Curious to know what UK eMusic subscribers are seeing online

edited December 2012 in General
Hey, you UK emusic subscribers...

eMusic asked me to write something for the UK edition of eMusic. I assume for one of their Best of 2012 articles. Being in the USA, I can't see what exactly it was used for or how it was presented. Curious if someone from the other side of the pond could just give me an fyi.

It's for Adam Fairhall's "The Imaginary Delta."

Cheers.

  • Re-reading my thread title, I can already envision some of the forthcoming posts.
  • I'll have a look Jonah. We do have a top 100 of the year, but it will be very different, because of the lack of availability of the majors. Most weeks, for example, the only way I can get into jazz picks is through BiTW, as it is not signposted from 17 Dots here, even though the vast majority of albums are available in the UK.

It is an Emusic Pick Jonah. Try this link http://www.emusic.com/listen/#/album/adam-fairhall/the-imaginary-delta/13414496/: I've deliberately put the full link rather than the hyperlink so you can copy into your browser if necessary.
  • @Greg

    Thanks.

Huh. Well, I was able to see that one before. I just figured they were going to use it in an article as opposed to a stand-alone synopsis. Not complaining or anything. A gig is a gig, and I'm happy to get that excellent album in the spotlight as often as I can.

    Cheers.

    Porn with bad teeth.

  • Porn with bad teeth
    ?????!!
  • @Cafreema

Thank you, Craig. You exceeded my expectations. I chuckled at that one.
  • I thought you'd enjoy it.

I may have broken Greg's brain, though. :)

    Craig
  • Yes, I'm still lost!

Greg, there's an American comic trope about the British all having bad teeth - here and here are some articles about it. Maybe the most classic example comes from a Simpsons episode, where the dentist shows Ralph the "Big Book of British Smiles" to scare him into brushing:

Thanks amc - I am not sure how to take that, particularly as I am off to the dentist later this morning for a six monthly check-up! But from one of the links
In fact, a 2009 study by the OECD found the UK to have some of the industrialized world's better dental health (actually ahead of the United States by a fair margin).
  • Good luck Greg, I had a wonderful day having the start of root canal work yesterday, the day after I went to one of my clients Xmas party. Needless to say I was not much use to anyone last night
  • Take it in good humor, Greg! (Or should I say humour?) It's an old and very bad joke, that for some reason holds on.

I've seen the models on tabloid page 2s (is it 2?), and when I've noticed their teeth, they are fine looking chompers.

  • One of my favorite tweets from Megan Amran, who may write for Parks & Rec...
"There's no 'u' in 'favorite'" - coach telling his British son that he prefers his American son.
  • (Or should I say humour?)
    - You should . . .
    :-)
  • It is OK, I was not taking it seriously, and it is definitely humour, no doubt in my mind :-)
  • Reading in bed last night and someone's teeth were described as so white that you would only normally see in America!
  • We do like our white teeth.

    Craig
  • I like my coffee and my Shiraz.
  • My dentist kept recommending whitening and straightening (to help pay for his new building) so I got a new dentist.
  • Could a UK eMusic member tell me if they see Oddarrang's new album "In Cinema"?

I have a hypothesis I'd like to test.

    Cheers.
  • Hi jonahpwill

All we have is the single for Self Portrait
  • @cw00

That image is "unavailable in my region."
  • Lol appropriate for an eMusic discussion, eh?
  • It is probably illegal here in the UK! Photos of currency like these are supposed to have 'Sample' or something similar written across it!!
  • Just whatever came up when I Googled British Pound. Funny though Greg. Our Postal service does similar things with pictures of stamps.

Hey, can someone over there log into eMusic and tell me what Nikolaj Hess recordings are available to you? I'm most interested in his Spacelab trio with Mikkel Hess and Anders Christensen. They have a 2014 album out, which appears to simply be called "Spacelab" and there's also a 2009 release entitled "The Champ."

I can get The Champ on USA-eMusic, but I'm not sure if 2014 Spacelab is available or not. The Champ was on the Stunt label, which we get. Their newest is either self-produced or on a label called Gateway.

It's listed under Nikolaj Hess Spacelab over here. No telling what other variations exist out there.

Oh, and hey, if you Euros do have it available for you, lay down a link in your response and I'll copy and paste it into my review.

    Gracias.
