Charles Lloyd - Jumping the Creek
Even after a couple of listens through this remains my least favorite of the various Charles LLoyd ECM albums. Come Sunday is nice.
Well, a big and convoluted thank you to Doofy, who posted this album four or five months ago, and I did not know the artists but something about it intrigued me, but just before I got to it on Guvera it was one of the albums that disappeared in that first post-launch reload. I kept checking Guvera to see if it would come back, but it never did. Having spent out my Guvera account somehow after 280 free albums this one album I couldn't get was still on my mind, so in the end (after some dithering - did I only want it because it was unavailable?) I paid for it on emusic.
On Record Store Day I bought a boxed set of 5 early Elton John albums, all recorded between 1970 and 1973. Some I had at the time as LPs, but I have none as CDs or downloads, so for £14 it was quite a bargain. Forget Elton John as he is now, then he was an up and coming young pianist/vocalist, recording some good music.
Those Elton John records bring back such memories, I remember my dad buying us Tumbleweed Connection and we must have palyed it to death. One of his underated albums is Blue Moves which I must rack down although it is rarely seen.

This is still NYOP at Bandcamp, one of the best this year
Somebody mentioned Rock 'n Roll High School somewhere here recently, so I watched it on Netflix; what a wonderful movie! So I had to pull out some Ramones. Thanks to some searching and re-tagging, I have this with te original "Carbona not Glue" track.

ETA: for the first time in many years . . . Totally bizzare, and even more than i remembered.

And I totally love it! Great stuff.
Petrels - Onkalo
Collective that builds tracks around Jazz samples. About 20 albums, all NYOP. Pretty good.

- Very nice symphonic easy listening with a touch of Mike Oldfield and French Teen Idol
(this is coming from a huge Mike Oldfield fan)
And:
. . .
Rhian Sheehan - Live at Wellington Opera House (2010) . . . . . Mercury Theatre Auckland 28th May 2011
I'm loving this bargain find, in spite of being not the best audio fidelity. A little tape hiss never hurt anybody.
- Four Danish mayors goes Gangam Style . . .
;-)
Streaming from BC. Fuller sound that her last album. Good so far.
Gu!
I got this and the earlier Miles Davis CD in a charity shop at the weekend - no Vol 2 though!
New Colin Stetson album, streaming at NPR.
Thanks BT
