@BT - the Garifuna Collective cd with Canadian Danny Michel (Blackbirds Are Dancing Over Me) is by far the superior of the two, IMO. I think it's going to be one of my best of 2013 recordings.
I,m streaming the album on American Songwriter. New album released last month. Been on my wish list since I heard it was coming out. I will end up downloading this one. Sometimes I wish I still had an emusic account... However, not sure how great the savings would be these days.
For his tenth album, Jay Nash threw away the rulebook. Letters From The Lost still offers up plenty of lush indie-folk and acoustic Americana, but it stretches Nashs boundaries, too, tossing everything from rootsy soul to indie rock into the mix. Swirls of synthesizer and guitar feedback push Wander toward Radiohead territory, while acoustic tunes like I Wont Let Go dial things back a bit, focusing on simple chord patterns and brushed percussion while still finding enough room for a jazzy horn solo.[/url]
Love Has Come For You by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell.
This is a delightfully fun album. I didn't know Steve Martin the comedian/actor played the banjo, but here he is with a new album out this year with Paul Simon,s wife, Edie brickell. The music was written by Martin and lyrics by Brickell. It,s a great listen. (Martin also tours with the bluegrass band Steep Canyon Rangers.)
Nice NYT write up about Love Has Come For You here.
@greg, I not only know Trevor Cooling, but have been with him all week, speaking at another conference he organized and in meetings related to common goals/projects. Right now I am in Canterbury and will be giving a public lecture at Canterbury University this evening. So unless you fancy a side trip to Canterbury, enjoy next week's conference!
Listening to Gregorian Chant. Seemed like the right thing for wandering around Canterbury Cathedral.
@GP - shame I can't be at Canterbury, the music sounds good! I am on my way home after 4 days in London for a meeting in Sheffield tomorrow followed by another at IoE on Saturday.Maybe next trip over here something will work out

the nylon string guitar is still warm from the seaworthy/deupree collaboration

@amc - yes it is a small world, I suspect on Tuesday GP and I were only a mile or two apart at some point in the day, also how close we actually lived in earlier life, and we both have qualifications from the Institute of Education.
At the moment I'm actually listening to tennis, Murray in the semi-final and it is close!
@greg, amc, I remain kind of astonished that given the size of the core group at emusers and the lack of prior common denominator other than having been customers of emusic,it turns out one of the other frequent posters (Plong42) teaches in the same modest-size US city that I teach in and another is from the area of England where I grew up, studied at the same place as me, and is headed to an event led by the longstanding colleague with whom I was leading events all this past week. Odds of all that, given the group size here???
Listening to the podium delay my flight by another 20 minutes every 20 minutes. Already parted from my luggage.

Indie R&B. Lovely.

@greg and GP; I'm floored at how small the world is. And at yet how far apart we can still end up.
Run the Jewels - s/t
The more I listen to this, the more I love it.

Kanye West - Yeezus
As good as Run the Jewels is, those saying it's the best hip hop album of the year so far are just trying to be different.
