I was just looking at the What Are You Reading thread then moved onto this one, basically "I got what you did there" ;-) Is this a good recording btw or does it show 1964 type limitations?
Ha! Yeah, I kinda did a "funny" there. You can get the "Four Violins" as a single disc split into two tracks or, if you're feeling really adventurous, as the 4 disc set "Early Minimalism Volume One" with the uninterrupted 32+ minutes. Here's an excerpt:
I first listened to Kammerflimmer Kollektief years back when I was mainly listening to electronic and ambient. The two early albums that I got at emusic were captivating, but when I listened to samples of later ones they were different and I kind of lost interest. I am just going back through the half dozen releases since then after a few years of intensive jazz listening, and they make a LOT more sense to my ears now. A nice treasure trove.
Well, I still have all of my Kathleen Edwards on the computer but I'm afraid Rose Cousins is standing by on the broken external hard drive wondering when I'm going to get it fixed.
Speaking of beautiful vocals. I've had this one in SFL since last summer. Thanks Bn. I really can't remember who put me on to the Clogs in the first place. Thanks to you too! ps Wow.....again. I'd almost forgotten about My Brightest Diamond and that Sufjan sound. Deserves some more exploring.
Some curious comments about whether the horns are "de-tuned"...I certainly don't hear it, not that I have any ear. Perhaps explains why you don't hear more about this album
It's been hot and dry and our province is on fire. Hard times getting harder. We're praying for rain too!
There was a report from Canada in the news earlier today. It looked like the situation is quite serious right now. I hope you and your loved ones are alright and you will get some rain very soon.
Well, I sure appreciate your concern. We're all safe. All my sons & family are in Calgary (about 3 hrs south of us on a 4 lane highway) and the fires are in the Fort McMurray region (400 km NE of us on a lot of 2 lane). A city hit hard by the falling oil prices now facing devastation. A lot of the 80,000+ folks that were ordered to evacuate are seeking refuge here in Edmonton. It's just so sad to imagine only having a short time to get your things together and get out with your life. We'll all do the best we can to help them out. One of the news stories here.
Terrace Martin - Venetian Stares. This has been on my wishlist for some time, finally enjoying while the sun shines over London, must be something to do with the new mayor
