Just back from a week in Lisbon (lost/stolen phone - boo! Weather, food and drink and art hurrah!) I see that I have a lot of catching up to do. A friend in Franks APA mentioned Red Norvo so off to Spotify I trotted only to discover I've known the title track to this album for over 35 years without remembering the artist.
Twofer priced at eMusic US, as if any added inducement were needed.
Thanks for the heads up, took all of two seconds to decide I needed this. £9.66 over here in Poundland; but really! I need to explore more Mal Waldron, surely I do. Can someone stuff a couple of extra hours in every day please?
djh - we went to Lisbon about six months ago, really enjoyed it, enough to make us want to go back to see more, four nights wasn't enough.
Now playing Amy Winehouse at the BBC, just right for a lazy Sunday afternoon. I got a new Bose speaker set to link via Bluetooth to my various Apple devices for my birthday a few days ago. The sound is so much better than listening to music through my computer speakers
Hi Greg, Yup a great place, I was interested to see how the economy was doing since visiting years ago. Lots of roadworks messing up transport but I think it is a concerted effort to get things going, their first since the early '90's when they had the City of Culture etc. This small gallery was our favourite. Arpad Szenes - Viera da Silva Museum. Also a good modern art gallery out in Belem, the Berardo Museum which is a bit like the Tate Mod. Sorry this should be in a private message really. Best Dave

Since the end of the 90s, Laurent Jeanneau, also an integral Sublime
Frequencies contributor, has been recording the music of mostly
endangered minorities of South East Asia. Alongside his relentless
pursue of remote exotic and unpublished musical traditions, he also
started creating electronic versions by combining raw recordings with
natural sounds, archive material and electronically treated sounds.
For Voices, Laurent based his alternate re-versions around the extensive
voice recordings he made on location in the southern regions of Yunnan
and Guizhou in China as well as in Sapa, North Vietnam and Phongsaly,
Northern Laos.
The compositions contain unedited acoustic recordings, computer modified
parts, sound collages and acoustic recordings of people and
instruments. All tracks were recorded on location and re-arranged by
Laurent Jeanneau in Dali, China.

Jasmine Lovell-Smith's Towering Poppies - "Yellow Red Blue"
-May be the most beautiful jazz album I've heard all year. Coming out in November.
Release date: 24 November 2016
- And brilliant !
Basically just pop songs slowed way down. Cool. Something I found on Bandcamp a while ago and just now dug out again. It's like proto-vaporwave.
