"Live at the Atlanta International Pop Festival: July 3 & 5, 1970" by The Allman Brothers Band.
Outstanding live album probably only bettered by what many people consider to be the best live album of all time, their "At Fillmore East" release.
And if they didn't have enough guitar power and prowess, they have John Winter sitting in on the July 5th 1970 28 minute concert version of "Mountain Jam"!
AMG says "It.....provides an excellent, even mind-blowing introduction to a band that was at the peak of its power".
Well, recently while on a visit with my vinyl I realized I'd not yet added any of The Lounge Lizards albums I have to iTunes. That also reminded me of John Lurie's TV programs "Fishing" & "Painting with John" (favourites of my wife and I). So, with the help of YouTube I'll spend some time listening to John. I feel a special connection with him as he is just 3 days older than me. At any rate, I only own these first 3 albums, the rest are on loan from the YouTube library.
Wow! Did that ever bring back some old memories!! Made me think of my best friend and music nut Doug, who left us long ago but is never forgotten. He introduced me to the Lurie brothers and as I'm going to be spending most of today backing up files on a new portable hard drive, I'll keep going til the NFL kick-off later today.
Sarah Davachi's "Feedback Studies for Percussion," a slow, intense interplay of piano and percussion, Kelley Sheehan's "Acoustic Sourings" with its custom devices creating static noise against piano strings, and Victoria Cheah's "Ocean Into Wire," a blend of electronic and acoustic sounds in a tumultuous yet harmonious dance.
"II" the beautiful 1999 Post Rock album by The Sonora Pine
AMG says ""II" was an early breakthrough in this mysterious magic, creating a glimmering world of soft-focus expressions that hung like smoke in the air and disappeared just as quickly."
Well, while my wife really can't stand to listen to him, I really enjoy his quirky voice and the music is always top notch. I think he's a great story teller with some interesting and odd stories to tell. It's been quite a while since I've spent some time with him and I'm looking forward to hearing what he's been up to since then. Johnny Dowd

Calling them punk though underrates the tunefulness of their music and vocals.
