Dosh - "Wolves and Wishes"
I'm not much of a fan of ambient electronica, but I received this one as a present last Christmas, and I really like it. So I figured, if it can appeal to me as a disinterested electronica guy, then others might find something to it.
Dosh "Wolves and Wishes".
And here's a link to the emusic site song samples. They're pretty representative of the sound, though some of the songs build up in intensity then shift into this pretty lilting tune (which you won't hear on the samples, obviously. Track #8 is a great example of that).

And here's his myspace page which allows you to listen to full length songs (One of which is off the above album. A second track is off the album The Lost Take, which is similar in sound to Wolves and Wishes):

Dosh is a drummer in the band Fog and also plays for Andrew Bird, so there's no drum kits on the album. There's lots of vibe work, some sax, and just a slew of different instruments really, all set to an electronica sound. A bunch of guests like Will Oldham, Andrew Bird, David King (Bad Plus), among others only play along, no vocals.
We've been doing a lot of interstate driving the last year (moving to a new state, visiting relatives, etc), and I highly recommend this album if you're faced with the tedious stretch of pavement that calls itself Indiana I65; it makes time go so much faster. A hearty recommendation from someone who doesn't have any other similar genre-ish albums on his shelf.

The Lost Take also sounded excellent, but this came across as tighter and more cohesive. Thanks for the rec.
I have The Last Take on my Christmas list, so hopefully I'll have another post to make on Dosh soon.
He sounded like a cool dude, though.
