Warp on Amie Street

Including new stuff. I'm sure more is to come, but some is still free and all of it is cheap.

  • OMG ! - and even available Europe...
That was almost more than my IE could handle !
  • I picked up the Grizzly Bear since Yellow House was highly recommended to me. I can't stand Veckamist, but the rec said Yellow House was more up my alley.
My odd Amie ethos prevented me from picking up Broadcast and Miro something for free and reccing them for the street cash or whatever it's called. I just don't want to take something for free that I know for a fact that I'm not interested in when someone who really wants it can get it then for free. Of course, I'm aware that naive thought is probably contradicted by the reality that others are doing it for that same reason, but whatever, I'm me, they're them.
I'm not that familiar with who's on the Warp label, so I'm curious what other bands might pop up now. This is the first time in a while I refreshed my Amie screen excitedly in anticipation of cool cheap albums I'd like to try.
  • So much for excitement. Seeing two new thumbnails finally pop up after a new releases screen refresh, my anticipation was rewarded with a new Crimson Razorback and a Project Thor something that I've ignored previously. Oh well. It looks like that wave is over. Hey, not bad pun there, actually.
  • Jackson and His Computer Band is brilliant
  • There's only one person here who can stay up 24 hours a day to see these drops coming (I'm looking at you, BN).

Just picked up Yellow House and Western Lands.

    Heh !
Well, Thom was there before me. There was allready 26 albums when i arrived, but I did manage to grab Grizly and Mira for free and Jackson allmost free.

Btw. It's 3 o'clock in the afternoon where I am.

    Edit:
Squarepusher is also brilliant(and a hell of a bass player)
  • Jeg ved. Jeg har lige vaagnede.
  • "Jeg har lige v
  • Sorry. If it were German or Dutch, I'd do much better.
  • Sweedish, more likely.

Thanks for a shitty night's sleep, Amie...
  • w00t! I'm #1

Someone definitely beat me out. But I didn't mind paying for the Jamie Lidell (Jim is brilliant and I've been searching for an inexpensive copy of Multiple for awhile), Squarepusher, Battles, or Nightmares on Wax. Also checking out the !!! and Prefuse 73. Most of the freebies I grabbed were ones I was only sort of interested in.

Humorously I did get Grizzly Bear's Yellow House for free and then remembered I did finally get it from eMu. So I REC'd the hell out of it and made over 3 bucks so far. I agree with jonahpwll in principle, but will continue to milk the system from time to time.

I gotta imagine more is on the way.
  • I made out well. Got about 15 albums, half of them free, the other half for around $2 each. It's the first time in about 4 months that I actually maxed out on my freebies (I think the last time was during that huge Modern classical drop). It will be interesting to see what else drops over the next few days.

I spent about a hour cashing out RECs yesterday in preparation for a big drop. I wish they made cashing in easier, but I'm sure it's beneficial to them to make it a hassle so people don't cash them as often.
  • I'd just like to send a shout out to Grizzly Bear who pushed me over the 10000 street cred mark today. Thanks guys.

Although it looks like no more Warp today, I'm hoping there'll be more to come. I totally lost touch with that label this decade after they guided me through much of the 90s. At the very least the break will give me a breather to refresh freebies and cash out some more RECs. I also got about 15 albums and did it without buying any more credits.
