My three year old has just discovered, and loves, Wallace and Gromit!
I really like anything from PBS for him, especially Bob the Builder, which he's basically burnt out on from seeing them all.
Also he really likes the "lots and lots of" series. As in lots and lots of trucks, lots and lots of firetrucks, lots and lots of trucks vol. 2, lots and lots of trains. Basically just videos of trucks destroying things set to music. Google and you can't miss it. He loves it.
amclark2 - I didn't know three year olds could burn out on anything!
My four-year old burned out on PBS and NickJr (formerly Noggin) for a while, but recently started watching Curious George again. Those shows play the same dozen episodes of a show week after week. Watching the same thing doesn't get old for young children as it would for older kids and adults, and they learn much more from this kind of obsessive repeat viewing than would older kids. But my son just had to shift his viewing for a little while, and for most of the summer we were subjected to iCarly (which still has more merit than the teen shows on Disney).
Movies to enjoy w/the kids: Any of the Wallace & Gromit shorts.
My boy loves W&G, but its spin-off, Shaun the Sheep, keeps him giggling for hours.
burn-out indeed happens. at some point, buzz lightyear becomes toxic and all the buzz gear "they had to have" is ostracized.
also find the miyazaki works - disney bought the north american distribution rights.
there is one domain of movies to avoid at all costs...these are kid movies featuring brandon fraser in an adult (parent) role. he sux beyond imagination. not even sucklechimp humping his leg would make these films enjoyable.
mutex - we watch man v. wild (but the kids love man v. food) and that is about as good as it gets to parodying "bear"
Can't wait to introduce my little one to Miyazaki.
I'll admit that, aside from Caillou, I enjoy watching most of the PBS Sprout catalog. In particular, she's a big fan of Miffy, Maisy (that's actually on Qubo), and Dragon Tales. She also really loves the theme songs to Thomas, Martha Speaks, Bob the Builder and, of course, Arthur (provided by Ziggy Marley). That show is pure genius and I like that she's getting into it more.
Interestingly, Miffy was her first real favorite. Then she lost interest for a few months. Now she's back on the wagon. Kids!
On the musical side, we're exposing her to a lot more rock and pop these days. She gets very excited watching pianos, so lots of Billy Joel and Elton John videos get played and she's really into naming all of the instruments on stage. Now if only more bands would incorporate the mouth bow...

froggie - I didn't even know they fixed that Rainbow up. I try and avoid it if at all possible.
Mutex - You have some messed up friends. Hilarious. But messed up.

i recall seeing one of the batman movies and thought omg! there's no way this can be for 16 and unders! mainly due to the creepy psychologist.
As for Batman, it sounds like you are talking about Batman Begins, which, yeah not for young kids.
