ok - limeys - it sez the mighty lemon drops rekkid is $9.99 on limewire. but you don't pay $9.99 to get $9.99, right? what do you actually pay? linkaaaargh - mixed metaphor link2
and how does it compare to the 5.99 - which is something like $5.20 considering the loyalty something or other.
It looks like this is entirely related to the filesharing lawsuit:
LimeWire is not only dead on FGCU's campus it is now dead to the global population as well.
LimeWire was shut down Oct. 26 after being found guilty of massive copyright infringement, losing its four-year legal battle with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), according to Sofpedia.com.
Now, Internet users are greeted with a notice that explains LimeWire's shut down and "demands all persons using the LimeWire software, name, or trademark in order to upload or download copyrighted works in any manner cease and desist from doing so." According to Sofpedia.com, as much as 98.8 percent of all of LimeWire's traffic involved unauthorized sharing of copyright materials and more than 3 billion songs were being downloaded every month by LimeWire's members.
(2) Phew!I quickly selected 75 credits worth of music about a week ago in order to not lose the credits, but didn't have time download the items. Now I have those items to download plus 75 credits to use up.
It looks like we are quickly being reduced to Amazon and the occasional 7digital sale.
Craig, what was that Classical-ish album you mentioned about a week or two ago that you've been digging?
Not completely surprising, but I'm still disappointed. I was pretty set on the idea of signing up again in January for a regular subscription. Now I notice that their tweets stopped about a week ago. Kind of strange to see it dry up so quickly.
Damn. I guess I snooze, I lose. There were a couple albums I really really wanted that emu doesn't offer, and well, several they do but free with joining the wire.
Oh well.
I'm still canceling my emu account.
Just took a look at Mtracks and that seems like a loser. I'd probably be out of jazz to pick up after the first month. They've got Guillermo Klein's "Una Nave" which I'd like, but not much else. A lot of cut-outs and bargain comps for jazz and that's about it.
Yuck.
That part really sucks - The Lime has a lot of excellent jazz labels plus a decent indie selection. Mtracks is somewhat lacking in both areas, plus I'm not thrilled with their encoding (not a fan of CBR below 256kbps).
Mtracks has several good jazz labels, incl Timeless, Criss Cross, and Clean Feed, but to hell with it. I was just tempted to pull the trigger on LWS last week, too...that'll teach me to delay gratification! Well, maybe they'll reappear under another name (but probly not!).
You know my first impression of Mtracks was the same: the Wire was hard enough to find great downloads, but this is a slimmed down Wire. I'll give it a shot though, but I admit I'm out of options other than going corporate again.
Okay, now I see where I can sort by label. I just found a couple things I'm interested in (ie, Smalls) and a few things I'd never heard of before.
I'm starting an mtracks thread.
Ouch. I'm still feeling the pain. Now this was about as surprising as having flat pancakes, but it still stings. I'm rather clueless about where I'm going to get my monthly new music fix.

The basic plan is 9.99 a month and you get 25 songs each month.
Sigh. Hello mtracks!

(1) Too bad to see another one bite the dust.

Now I'm going to have to actually listen to those umpteen albums I've downloaded.
I think that's the one you're referring to.
