Limewire question

edited November 2010 in General
Hey.
So, I've got two emu downloads left, and my plan (since I'm going to join Limewire) is to use the remaining two downloads on an album that I intend to complete the purchase of at Limewire. The thing is, I'm worried that the Limewire album view is different for members than it is for non-members. So I'm wondering if one of you Limewire members could follow the album links and just let me know if my plan to buy "the rest of the album" at Limewire would run into any obstacles (ie, album only pricing, that kind of thing).
I hope I explained that clearly. I'm not liking how I worded, y'know, stuff.

Here's the albums...

http://www.store.limewire.com/store/app/pages/album/Album/productId/127523/ Benjamin Moussay - Swimming Pool

http://www.store.limewire.com/store/app/pages/album/Album/productId/450612/ Carlos Bica - Materia.

http://www.store.limewire.com/store/app/pages/album/Album/productId/33063/ Guillermo Klein - Una Nave

Thanks in advance. Soon I will be a Limey.

  • The Carlos Bica track "Believer" is an album only track, otherwise everything else can be bought on a track by track basis.
  • I became a Limey on Saturday, and will officially cut the cord at eMu after my free month refreshes on Thursday (unless of course they offer another free month, to which I would not say no).

One thing I've noticed about the LS, I already like the "Similar Albums" sidebar better than any of the recommendations eMu has ever given me.

So, then, I should stay away from that album, since I'd wind up buying the last emusic tracks over again, right?

I think that Benjamin Moussay album is gonna get my attention. That's the one I most want anyway.

    Thanks.

I usually ignore that emu feature on jazz, but it's always done right by me on my electronica explorations and my ambient stuff, too. Whole bunch of bands it turned me on to. Of course, I was just sort of starting out, so there was a whole lot of room for basic help to seem like extraordinary help, y'know? Many of the jazz recs it makes to me are rather puzzling.

I'm just excited to get 50 downloads a month, again. And there's plenty of current jazz for me to pick from. For the last couple months, whenever something new popped up on emu, before buying it, I'd check first to see if it was on Limewire. It was, almost every time.
Also, Limewire has some stuff emu doesn't have.

Oh really? Hope you'll keep us posted on your finds, Jonah. I had no trouble burning through 50 on the months I was over there, and I know I like lots of stuff you recommend. So you know, clue us in!

Assume by this time you have gotten in on the big Cecil Taylor Feel Trio set....

Cecil Taylor is one of those artists I have never been able to get into at any time not even for just a hot minute. Nothin'.

But I'll definitely start a thread about the jazz I'm downloading on Limewire.
  • I've got 2 cancelled eMu accounts that will give me free months in December. I think starting in January I'll start up a regular subscription to Limewire. If a couple labels like Matador would drop over there it would be just like old times!
  • Excellent...of course there are labels like Clean Feed and SSC, above. I am reminded too that they have some of the 'World' labels I'm interested in, like Syllart and Smithsonian Folkways. (Also the same few Analog Africa titles that eMu has.)

ok - i'm late to the party - can i get a confirmation limewire has candy claws available as i'm down to my last 10 dls and would prefer to use them on my xmas mix requirements.

    thankee
  • Sorry, I don't see Candy Claws on Limewire.
  • just one track - @ 99cent pricing. is 99cent pricing typical?

i did grab the rekkid at emu, so i'm shot. looks like bigbigpop's post made cathyhn crawl out from her lint trap and own up to the target switch date of 11/16. i guess i can still do a crackcard if i need more xmas material.

finally, candy claws is an amclark thrill ride.
  • looks like it's not there; but it looks interesting. Why not get your xmas mix stuff of limewire?
  • Let me know what you need for xmas and I'll check Limewire for you Double-B.

  • thx - i'm pretty far along - just need to slice some stuff in audacity. that said, every year folks turn me on to some phenomenally great finds - ptolemyclark hit 3 last year with a canadian sampler (the acorn's 29 second entry makes both my boys want to run outside and play in the snow as if they had no other choice).

personally, the "klausman" track from that sampler lights up the pachinko parlor.

yeah! candy claws is letting me leave emu with a good vibe. mega high rec.
  • It's typically 99 cents a la cart pricing, but the credits are as low as 27 cents, I think. There are some labels on there that don't do credits - I know the last Zombi album on there is cold hard cash only.
