I didn't know what to think of True Blood at first, but I loved Six Feet Under, so I gave it a chance, and love it. Haven't seen season three yet though.
I like Charlaine Harris' books better than the True Blood series, but I still like True Blood. Mad Men, even more!
Not Black Friday anymore, but I signed up to do temp work at a nationwide upscale retailer. I got the darlingest interview suit today & a nice Kuerig coffee maker for the better half at excellent special prices plus employee discount!
bad Thoughts - my question, too. I have a couple in my sights, wondering whether to pull the trigger. A drop dead date would prod me.
I have all of the Django boxes (won 'em from a local rekkid seller) -obviously worth it. I bought Juke Joint Blues for close to Amazon's price - man is that a great set - do it Bad Thoughts - get this set!
I'm looking at Bix and Tram, and thinking on Ernest Tubb (do I need all of that? I have his hits on LP - 4 CD's worth...)
I'm looking at the Hoagy Carmichael and Cantors, Klezmorim and Crooners at the very least. Some of the NOLA Jazz comps look cool, too. I'll take a look at Juke Joint Blues, though it's not where I'm going in my listening now. Memphis Minnie might be more what I want. How good are the liner notes on those sets?
I think that they're awful - they are very rambling and go from disc to disc inside the disc cover. I have a couple of Hoagy comps - not really a great singer, although the songs...Kelzmorim and Crooners is weighing on my mind, and I have some of the NOLA jazz comps on other comps, so I'm not as interested in those.
BT, I'm not sure the JSP box sets are cheaper now than usual - I got a couple of the Django sets earlier in the year and as I recall they were around $17 the same as the one I saw on Amazon a couple of days ago. I don't think the liner notes are great but they sure as sheep beat not having any.
