I was playing Spiral while out for a walk just two days ago. I was thinking that even though they are a bit "clunky" if you will I still love his run of 1970's RCA albums. Him and Elvis one name RCA stars.
Was once nearly arrested when I was singing one of his songs out loud as I walked down the street and two police officers appeared around a corner. Angel's Delight from Viva Dead Ponies.
My mp3 with 128gb card, means enough music for me. Just swopped it over for one of my older cards this week, discovering some great albums I have heard in ages.
I have all my music up on iCloud so have access to my over 550GB of music via my iPhone when in range or have access to wifi. When I don't have access to the Cloud, I use my 2 heritage 256GB iPods plus the 64GB storage on my iPhone and 128GB on my iPad.
I've still got two iPods, a Classic with 30GB memory, rarely used nowadays, and a 120GB Touch. The battery doesn't last as long as it used to, but is still has its uses. For example, when I had an operation with epidural anaesthtic three months ago I didn't want to use bluetooth headphones so i set up a three hour playlist. But nowadays most of my music is played through my iPhone. I bought as big memory as I could get on the SE (320 GB) so many album choices available to me.I use either Sony XM3 headphones or a Bose speaker set up, both connected by bluetooth. Our cars both have bluetooth connectivity too.The idea of a 1TB player appeals but not the cost!!
UK band Depeche Mode have announced that their keyboard player Andy Fletcher has died at the age of 60.
No cause of death has been shared at this time.
In a statement released on Thursday night on Twitter, the band said, "We are shocked and filled with overwhelming sadness at the untimely passing of our dear friend, family member and bandmate Andy "Fletch" Fletcher.
Archie Roach was one of Australia's top folk singers who died yesterday at the age of 66.
He was aboriginal and was part of the "Stolen Generation", aboriginal children who were removed from their parents without their agreement. His songs came from the heart and the words still have great importance and meaning.
AMG says "Acclaimed Australian singer/songwriter fuses a folk-inspired sound with the traditions of his indigenous heritage."
His story is best told through his most renowned song "Took the Children Away".
This story's right, this story's true I would not tell lies to you Like the promises they did not keep And how they fenced us in like sheep. Said to us come take our hand Sent us off to mission land. Taught us to read, to write and pray Then they took the children away, Took the children away, The children away. Snatched from their mother's breast Said this is for the best Took them away.
The welfare and the policeman Said you've got to understand We'll give them what you can't give Teach them how to really live. Teach them how to live they said Humiliated them instead Taught them that and taught them this And others taught them prejudice. You took the children away The children away Breaking their mothers heart Tearing us all apart Took them away
One dark day on Framingham Come and didn't give a damn My mother cried go get their dad He came running, fighting mad Mother's tears were falling down Dad shaped up and stood his ground. He said 'You touch my kids and you fight me'
And they took us from our family. Took us away They took us away Snatched from our mother's breast Said this was for the best Took us away.
Told us what to do and say Told us all the white man's ways Then they split us up again And gave us gifts to ease the pain Sent us off to foster homes As we grew up we felt alone Cause we were acting white Yet feeling black
One sweet day all the children came back The children come back The children come back Back where their hearts grow strong Back where they all belong The children came back Said the children come back The children come back Back where they understand Back to their mother's land The children come back
Back to their mother Back to their father Back to their sister Back to their brother Back to their people Back to their land All the children come back The children come back The children come back Yes I came back.
Another good one to add to a bad week. Sorry to hear this. I have to say that some emails have been passed back and forth here at home since the death of Jaimie Branch about musicians with weight issues (I mentioned enjoying Tyshawn Sorey while we can). Do we know his cause of such an early death?

Yes drummer Alan White dead at 72
His “New Africa” album got a lot of play when I was a youngster.
Dang. His is the Mosaic Select set that I play the most - not that I own a lot.
