I swear, Klabbes Bank still amazes me after all these years of listening to their music. Especially the early works, like "Je Suis La Mer" and "Kalsater."
New release on Quiet Details, available digitally for half price for a few days. Abstract analog synth music, minimal in its raw materials, oddly compelling.
Symphonic progressive rock from Sweden. A tad melodramatic for my ear in places, but on the whole rather enjoyable on first listen. Quite melody driven.
Another inaugural discogs purchase. Been a VERY long time since I last listened to this one. 25 years? Glad I picked it up just to experience it again. Brings back some specific memories that had laid dormant for far too long. A few songs still resonate with me. Enjoyable.
Another inaugural discogs purchase. I love Chris Whitley's music. I have been listening to him ever since "Living with the Law" came out in 1991. I literally purchased the cassette on my way out Chicago so I could listen to it in the car as I drove to Colorado to live. How did I never have this album? It's so good.
Now here's a thing. I was having a nice time just listening to a digital copy of this when I did a bit of ahem *research* and discovered it is in fact two albums squashed together with no rhyme or reason to the track order - a right mess in fact. Having discovered that I feel like I shouldn't be enjoying the album as much as I am doing even though it flows perfectly well. The mind is a strange beast.
Mark Refoy and other ex-Spiritualized/Spacemen 3 collaborators. More indie-rock than what their previous groups performed, but some stuff that's as powerfully space-y-ambient as anything Spiritualized/SM3 did. But aside from that lovely tranquil opening track, the best songs are those with a pop music ethos and a bouncing groove.
Nice recent find on the Internet Archive. Not sure of the band but the details I have: the
singers are Lemma Gebre Hiwot, Selamawit Gebre Selassie and Zenebech Tesfaye
with arrangements by Getachew Degefu. I did not look that natty on my wedding day (we both wore T-shirts).
Local band I saw at a nifty gallery opening in the neighborhood. This EP was all they had on BC. From seven years ago. What I saw live was a larger ensemble and pretty fantastic.

Another delightful piano and ambience album.
It's been quite a while since I listened to this. Really enjoying it. Rich like ganache.
and my favourite track "High Visceral"
Oooh! Thanks for the reminder; I must dig out their albums and have a Stars weekend!
