The Fort Mudge Memorial Dump s/t album from 1970. Heavy Psych Rock that reminds me of a heady mix of Jefferson Airplane and The Doors. Well worth a listen. Try "Crystal Forms" below, one of the best tracks on the album.

A really obscure but good blues rock/heavy psych album - "Dirty Sheets" by Leslie's Motel. It was recorded in 1972 but only finally released in 2009.

AMG says "Folk-tinged, psychedelic, and improvisational, Leslie's Motel skirted the periphery of the jam-band niche during the early '70s."

  • The Superfine Dandelion Primary 1 of 1

Naff image, sorry. The Superfine Dandelion. A one album and done group from Phoenix. Band formed in 1967 recorded this flop and quit in 1968. Bass player eventually joined The Tubes. Sort of Buffalo Springfield with a big Stones element (harmonica) thrown in.

It's been a long time since I heard anything from that group, they were on a compilation I had years ago called (I think) The Boss Town Sound - being a Boston group. I should have a dig around and see if I still enjoy them, chances are even more now than then.

Kathy & Carol s/t Folk album from 1964. Paul Rothchild calls it "the most beautiful Renaissance ballad record I ever heard. It's just perfect. If you like Joan Baez, here's Joan Baez times two, with gorgeous harmony, singing purist songs like angels."

and here is one of the songs from the album, "Just a Hand to Hold".

I first came across Kathy & Carol through the excellent 117 track Elektra compilation album "Forever Changing: The Golden Age of Elektra 1963 - 1973".

Relatively Clean Rivers s/t Psychedelic/Folk Rock album from 1976

To quote from Amazon "RCR is recognized by those fortunate enough to have heard it as one of the very finest albums of the era, with a clearly-defined American sound akin to The Grateful Dead in all their American Beauty pomp or CSNY circa Deja Vu. An album highly recommended to anyone even remotely interested in '70s West Coast music or simply great music in general."

One of the best tracks is the heavily psych "The Persian Caravan"
