Hi Rod, I've been listening to both versions of the death and resurrection of Christ that you sent me. Thanks again for that and indeed the rather splendid Penderecki at 80 collection. Reason for the mail is that I can't seem to find any details online regarding the version conducted by the man himself. Do you have any? Just my curiosity is all. Hope all is well. Best Dave H.

Really glad that this album got reissued around the time of Julian Cope's Japrocksampler so us young folk could get to hear it. A fine record by a fine band.
Their first was also damn nifty and had a "classic" cover@peterfrederics a friend has just informed me that it's #1 in the UK album charts - for whatever that's worth these days.Taking a chill pill and having a relaxing morning in the sun here in the north lands - celebrating the fact it isn't windy for a change (the perils of island life etc).

If I don't post for a few days it's either because I think I've posted too much recently and/or because I have no streaming link for what I'm listening to as it's either a cd or a file from an external drive. This …I had been having a conversation on Facebook about the fate - hopeful renovation of the bizarre concrete dinosaurs in Crystal Palace park (SE London) yesterday - and then I stumbled on this. It may just be me but I find the near endless permutations…(Quote) Colin Stetson is certainly an experience in a small venue. The Amaryllis should be a real treat. +1 for gigs in art galleries.(Quote) The first gig I ever went to was Blondie on their Parallel Lines tour. (Quote) I didn't realise that the second album wasn't released as such in the US at the time. I think it is a great record except for the cover version (The More I See You). OTOH Stanlow is a wonderfully bleak piece to end with (named after t…(Quote)

I was well pleased to read about this, at last I can replace some of those vinyl rips from back in the sharity days. Of course it's collector vinyl driven so we'll have to wait and see, but promising even at $10 a pop.And yet 7Digital the company that eMusic ended up sourcing a lot of music from is still going. Albeit focused on major label drivel. Mind I never really did understand the connection between the two.And no sooner had I mentioned RIP fatigue...RIP Rick Buckler, The Jam drummer dead at only 69. One of the few bands that stayed split up when they called it a day and paradoxically one of the bands most Brits my age …(Quote)
Not my take on it but I know elsewhere that some Robert Wyatt fanboys still hold a grudge that Ratledge "kicked Wyatt out of Soft Machine". A lot of these people seem not to like SM after Third and even that is a push for the ja…(Quote)
Sad news. For a short while there he acted as a great foil to the rather preposterous Mr Fripp. Somewhere I have an album he made with Derek Bailey if memory serves.
Sultry downtempo minimal electro-pop from Berlin on the usually reliable No Not Fun cassett…This one is fairly easy on the ears ethnic / prog fusion (which can be a bit of a minefield IMHO)But I don't mind this at all. Also available for a big $1 on Bandcamp.@peterfrederics I've owned the Tarot album since the 2000 cd re-issue and I like it... but I've never been able to really enthuse over it, and it is the same with all the …@peterfrederics Something about the group name was making my back brain itch. I think I may have come across the group via one of the Brown Acid comps, possibly. Anyway th…
