I turned off the related discussions that appears below the first post, that seems like a total waste of space. The others can be turned off or down as desired too.

That's entirely possible. It might just be having a fairly small pool of regular talkers overwhelms the relevance ranking that would otherwise give more credence to keywords, or something. I'm mostly making things up now though. Th… -
Oh, @dataGuy I haven't the foggiest how the related discussions thing worksThis seems to work better. Perhaps the wysiwyg one was trying to run before it could walk.
OK, I'll also leave this for a bit.
Admins: if you want to play with these more, here's how you switch thing around:
Edito…As an experiment, I've toggled the editor settings to use bbcode. Will this work better? It gives me back ctrl-arrows to move a word at a time, which is definitely a plus.
How about images, will there be one below this, or will it still …All the bugs...
It seems that pressing "enter" on the "attach an image/file" forces a "post comment" action before the…huh, just plain dragging an image into the editor box worked. That surprises me slightly.
For what it's worth, these are the editor settings:
So, I did that by using the "attach image/file" button and pasting the URL in. It did go a bit weird for a bit, I'll experiment some more.

I've added a new searching thingamie. Can you have a play with it and let me know if it suits? If you go to advanced search, it'll tell you useful things.
There is one glaring limitation: it currently won't update itself with new content …More importantly surely would be a picture of the hand.
Hmm, I'm no web-designer, but if you want to have a look at the themes here:

The reason was mostly that the previous version was going out of support, and I'm pretty anti my servers being compromised :-)
Won't get to look into it tonight, but will try to soon.
Brighternow: Hmm, I'll have a look-see, hopefully this evening. It shouldn't be totally gone.
PaulR: that's the plan, yeah.

Maybe this is better. It certainly looks nicer. I'll let you all decideIt's got a few options admins can toggle if they like.
Upgraded to Vanilla 2.2 after all that. Release notes here:
http://vanillaforums.org/discussion/31121/vanilla-is-proud-to-present-v…After a brief period of emusic.com error message emulation, the operating system upgrade has been completed. Next step, the vanilla upgrade.
Minor version update coming tonight (CEST) for some security patching.
Edit: also going to experiment with SSL-enabling this site, because more SSL is more good. You may have issues if you're on XP, but you shouldn't be on XP.

I have about two or three A4 printer paper boxes worth (although I've just been sorting stuff and more small stacks keep getting discovered), they're mildly obscure but nothing to write home about. If you screenshot me an example of a pattern you see a lot, I can add it to the filter list too.
I'm doing a bit of poking around and have found a plugin that might allow 90% of spambots to be avoided by matching that "why I want to join" string they all use. Having a look into it now.
OK, I've enabled this (yo…
