I need something relaxing. I had to go to South London today for work, travelling through the centre on the tube at morning rush hour. Glad I don't do that journey everyday! Then the train was delayed on the way back. Ugh.....
I'm a fringe DT listener - admire the musicianship, often love the instrumental breaks and complexity, the more concise songs are a little hit and miss for me as songs, the vocals I'm not a huge fan of. Funnily enough I've been a bigger fan of most of their side projects. This album was a good way to get a spread of their stuff for not much - three hours' worth for what was 12 credits at the time. Now that the voluminous back catalog is on emusic, and some of it at very reasonable prices, I might explore a but further.
Dick Dale (remember he always refers to himself in the third person, just like Bob Dole - go figure) will open up a reverb drenched can of whupass on Philip Glass.
"After creating a mixture of ambient soundscapes and experimental instrumental tracks mostly using analogue instruments on his first album "Valeot", on his second mini-album "Shards", the basis of the tracks shifted towards digitally created soundscapes interwoven with field-recordings and instruments such as cello, bass and vibraphone.
It's the naturalness and unusual easiness with wich Alexandr combines these distinct elements to beautiful and pleasant yet experimental pieces which makes this record a special one." Valeot Records 2010 - Bandcamp.
One guy is in Big Black and the other is black, so Marvin Gaye and Steve Albini are basically the same person. Add in the album titles, and yeah, more or less the same thing.
Thanks again to whoever rec'd this a long time ago. Brighternow if memory serves.
I've been listening to Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on a couple of long car journeys today, in memory of Clarence Clemons - Born in the USA and part of the 1975-1985 Live CD set. Now home and playing something entirely different:
Another weekend seconhand purchase. I tend not to buy compilations that often, but this has some great tracks that I only have in low quality from Window Media Player days, before I had an ipod

Subsets of Sets by Jakob (NOT, as Amazon would have it, Jakob Nielsen)
- A match made in heaven !
More or less the same thing as Craig's post at the tope of the page, right?

However much I search on Google I cannot find an image!
- ETA: If your problem is what I think it is, just rightclick on the image on the emu page > leftclick on properties > copy the url > paste in post.
- And it's the same procedure if you wish to "steal" the image from this post.

I've been listening to WUNC's North Carolina Voices: The Civil War. This episode deals with Henry Berry Lowry.
Odyssey is one of the most difficult words in the English language for me to spell. The Zombies do not help.
This album will be 20 years old in September. Yikes.

Army Navy - The Last Place. Happy pop with a nod to Belle and Sebastian.
