"Specta Ciera is a project pseudonym of experimental sound designer Devin Underwood located in Cambridge, MA. His work typically comprises of ambient drones, field recordings and avant garde electronics, although he is keen to experiment through different techniques as each release comes out."
Correspond
- "is the first collaboration between U.S based musicians Devin Underwood and Marcus Fischer. Together they have created five beautiful pieces of delicate, free floating ambience. Followers of each artist individually will find that their styles seem to effortlessly combine as they experiment with their shared love for minimalism, field recordings, acoustic and electric instruments and natural reverb.
The tracks on Correspond are presented in the order in which they were completed, allowing the listener to trace the trajectory which the artists followed during the creative process."
I didn't realise Nichy Hopkins played on that album, BN. Thanks for the info, I'll have to find the album to play again. With today being Thanksgiving Day, are we going to be the only two here today?
- could be - Maybe they will be so stuffed with turkey so they are unable to type ;-)
- You have something special waiting, Saving Grace is as breathtaking and intense as it was way back when. On the track "Baby's House", Nicky is really "letting it all out"
- Just started:
- Oh boy Oh boy !
ETA: It's actually the late Nicky Hopkins, he died in 1994. http://www.nickyhopkins.com/
- He also played on Steve Miller's "Brave New World" album.
Thanks for the link, I knew him mainly from his work with the Rolling Stones where he was often descibed as the sixth Stone, and also some of his 70s stuff with ex Beatles, but not the full range of who he recorded with. I'm about to try to find the Steve Miller stuff on Spotify if I can
'Morning Greg, BN. Some life this side of the pond, but I only half count, being British and therefore not so invested in Thanksgiving and having no extended family within 3000 miles. We ended up inviting a bunch of the Asian grad students at my college for lunch today, so Thanksgiving lunch will be some Brits pretending to be cultural representatives of American Thanksgiving to a dozen or so Chinese, Indonesian and Korean friends. Looking forward to it.
- Morning . . . (its 3:30 in the afternoon here) and time for some food:
Food - Thomas Strønen, Iain Ballamy, Nils Petter Molvaer, Christian Fennesz - Quiet Inlet
"Food has defined a new kind of lyrical electro-acoustic improvisation in the course of its twelve year existence. Founded as a quartet in 1998, since 2006 the group has been a core duo of UK saxophonist Iain Ballamy and Norwegian drummer Thomas Strønen joined by guests for diverse projects. At the Molde Jazz Festival and the Oslo Blå club in 2007/8 their guests were trumpeter Nils Petter Molvaer, well known to ECM followers, and Austrian improvising guitarist Christian Fennesz, making his label debut. The resultant music, with melodic improvising, trancelike pulses, and shifting clouds of sound is highly attractive."
- ECM 2010.

Currently listening to a great version of I'd Rather Go Blind
This totally fit the weather this morning, cold and sunny.
In recognition of BN's valiant efforts to talk about music at the other place.
- Thanks Amclark . . .
ETA: Gotta search for a faster headbanger . . .
I'd forgotten how much I liked this album.
- No longer @ eMusic - at least not in Europe
