Spiritualized - Sweet Heart Sweet Light

Can't decide if I love or hate the cover. The album is very good, though.

I like what I hear of this album [Spiritualized], tempted to get it while it's on sale.

    - "COLLECTED WORKS" IS THE FIRST COMPILATION OF MUSIC BELONGING TO THE SOLO WORKS OF VALERIO COSI. IT GATHERS THE BEST RECORDINGS FROM THE YEARS BETWEEN 2005 AND 2008. MANY OF THESE RECORDINGS WERE ORIGINALLY RELEASED IN LIMITED (SOMETIMES ULTRA LIMITED) QUANTITIES THROUGH CDR LABELS AND NOW COME RENEWED AND RE-MASTERED IN SOUND. VALERIO STARTED MAKING SOLO EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC BACK IN THE LATE 90'S WHICH WAS MOSTLY RECORDED IN HIS HOME. HIS FIRST RELEASED RECORDING CALLED "IMMORTAL ATTITUDES" (2006), A WORK RECORDED A YEAR BEFORE, CONTAINS THE MOST RECOGNIZABLE SOUNDS DEVELOPED BY COSI THROUGH HIS MUSICAL YEARS. FREE JAZZ, ELECTRONICS, SAXOPHONE AND LOTS OF PSYCHEDELIC/ETHNIC ATMOSPHERE."

    - "Italian wunderkind Valerio Cosi stormed onto the scene with a pile of jazz-infused releases that could match anyone. At a mere 22 years-old, Cosi's talent and ability are truly outstanding. When he blows his horn, he channels the ghosts of Coltrane, Ayler, Coleman, and others. In addition to being a great sax player, Cosi is also an excellent composer. His songs are unique blends of ragas, jazz, drones, and more. They are acid-infused mini-masterpieces. And when you consider Cosi's age, it's all even more impressive. Valerio Cosi is certainly one-of-a-kind."

I don't think I have played these two consecutively before. Whilst I like this a lot I still prefer the original, probably because I know it so well over many years.

    Another Noisetrade download
  • Thanks Greg for the heads up on The Choir, playing it now
  • Yes, it has had its effect being through Noisetrade, as I have already looked at their other albums elsewhere.

Glass Harp's debut album, still great after all these years.

@greg, The Choir is giving that album away to celebrate the release of their new one, according to their website.

  • @Greg, Plong42 - Thanks for the info on The Choir. I really like the sound of their free album on Noisetrade (Burning Like the Midnight Sun). And thanks for the heads up about their new album, just now out. I like that one a lot, too.

Also worth picking up on Noisetrade is Mindy Smith's 4-track sampler EP which includes two new tracks from her new album (this one independently released) that will be released June 26. It's got my interest for sure. The remaining two tracks on the EP are old songs from previous albums, and if you haven't heard "Come to Jesus," you need to.
