Yes Doofy, I even had to (temporarily) join up my wife on a free offer to get quick access! But I did remember to cancel before the credit card kicked in! I admit my hold did not last long, but I suspect I won't go back to contributing to the Message Board there. But 150 new World recordings was too tempting!!
Started off the morning with this as the CD was close to hand
It is amazing to me that it is nearly 50 years since Love Me Do was released...
Just read a concise but significant review of the En album that I reviewed for MiG. What he says about drone as a genre seems to me spot on and worth saying (and reading). He's dead right about the problems of the genre tag. (Other reviews of this same album have used the term lazily to describe tracks that are in no way a drone).
Getting on a plane and listened to Russian Orthodox church music. We'll see which kind of drone wins out in the skies.
'Finally' picked this one up. If there were a contest for most successful Jazz/B.A.M.-R&B/Hip-Hop crossover, Esperanza would win it over Glasper, to my ears. Seems like her vocal powers have increased. I don't know if it's intentional or not (I'd guess yes), but the title track sounds like a Joni Mitchell hommage.
2 1/2 hours of well composed (Neo-)Ragtime from the 70s and 80s. Perhaps not everyone cup of tea, BUT it was $6.49 on New World (we should keep an eye out for future deals on New World releases--really great modern Classical.)
i've been listening to this dr. hook-y record by father john misty all morning. i'll eventually move on to some violent death metal, but 'till then . . .

Jonah (and others!) - not sure if you know Alan Skidmore's recordings made with South African musicians. Recommended.
Sohrab remix album - You Are Not Alone lll
- "The third and last in a series of reworkings of Sohrab material by artists showing solidarity to his cause for legal status in Germany."

Three CD's worth of joy for a paltry $5.84 over on eMu.
