Thanks for that Steve Albini link Craig; I really liked reading that - I've always thought of him as sort of pretentious and annoying, but that stuff seemed much less so. Maybe he was misunderstood or maybe he's matured or maybe both, but I'm glad to have an improved opinion of him.
I'm in the middle of a short spell of busy work days, so not much music played over the last few days
Took this out of the library earlier in the week, and I've been playing it in my car so far, and wasn't that impressed, so I thought I'd give it a straight through play. It is a kind of retrospective of his solo career. Some tracks (the hits) are good, but some I really do not rate. Jeff Beck is a better guitarist than this CD portrays.
The release of about 150 albums from the back catalogue of Real World Records has got me back to emu. This is just the first to be downloaded. I may even be on a booster pack later in the day!!
Thanks, BT. Not totally sure if this is my thing but am suspecting that the number of listens it might take to find out if it is my thing might make it into my thing.
@Daniel, vol 2 does not appear to be on eMu (nor is vol 1 anymore), but it is on Amazon and iTunes
bummer. the jazzman label (which compiled/released vol. 1) was on emusic, left, reappeared again. but when it reappeared, there were gaps in its discography.
low on KEXP. low is maybe the best vocal harmony band in underground rock (sorry, "fleet foxes"), and certainly one of the most intense, in their own quiet way. love this band forever.

So now I'm listening to:
Not sure how this fits into your culturally interesting sequence, GP.
