Way to go Craig. I keep hoping early Numan will appear on Guvera. There is some of his more recent stuff.

@Craig, I'm bemused that the comments on that review so quickly turned to heaping hate on Blancmange - I stand by my view that three or four of their songs were excellent. Kind of sad that there seem to be people still upset that synth pop started overtaking the Jam in the charts in the early 80s.
I can't call any Blancmange to mind at the moment. In fact, I don't even recall seeing the name before. I have a feeling they were primarily UK, and Wikipedia seems to agree - the only U.S. chart listings is the Dance Charts. So many British artists of that era just never broke through over here (and if they did it was just one song).
@Prof, not me this time! Although I may have mentioned this one, famous as the first recording session for Blue Note records:
@Craig, that negative review reminds me of this surly reviewer, which somebody recently Tweeted. He hates a wide range of products, but most often Crocs.
Meanwhile, as pointed out by Karg>>70s jazz wild & woolly, just the way I like it:
@Doofy, I think it was that mention that got me searching for Ammons on Guvera, so indirect thanks anyway. It fell into what I find is usually a worthwhile musical genre made up of "pianists mentioned by Doofy".
I confess it doesn't. Did you post it? Thanks, though it slipped by me. And thanks for the mention now, I'll check it out. There may well be some confirmation bias going on - after several successful forays, I've started noticing whenever Doofy posts a pianist I don't know, and likely also assuming that if I found a pianist Doofy posted it :-). Similarly, of late I tend to look out for when you post older jazz guitar stuff. There's typically only time to follow up a few recs from the ongoing stream, so sometimes I just glance through a day's worth, and tried and tested combinations of cues catch my eye.

ETA: Why does a Guvera search for "A Jazz Hour With...." offer me a song called "Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off (Singalong Version)" by the Emo Rock Stars???? Is it really trying to give me everything with "a" and "with" in it?
@Craig, they are not very available on MP3. Normally I'm not a big fan of greatest hits albums, but in this case, this album is cheap if bought used and contains pretty much all of the material most worth bothering about (as well as quite a bit more :-)).
Update - Great intermix of piano with alto sax on several tracks. I was put off alto sax by Kenny G, but its playing on those tracks on this album shows the other exreme of this instrument. I'm not sure if ECM is available on Guvera, but I think you'd like this GP with your ambient/jazz interests
I don't know what to think of this. First, Kenny G mostly (always?) played soprano, right? And second, the entire history of jazz is strewn with antidotes to having been put off of anything by Kenny G!
OK I meant soprano - getting my sax wrong, but I do agree with the last part, Kargatron. But everytime I hear a soprano sax, I immediately think of Kenny G!
Greg, in this case you have the advantage, as newer ECMs are not on Guvera (or incomplete, as is the case for "Magico Carta").
Greg is not the first person to hear a little Kenny G in Garbarek's sound, although any influence would have run the other way! Kenny has the ear for "pretty" licks.
@Doofy - the same is true here on emusic. We had two releases during the whole of 2012, then there was a big drop of maybe 150 albums a couple of weeks ago, covering 8 or so years of new to emusic stuff, but by no means everything they have releaaed in that time.
Comments
I got the 27 track expanded and remastered version of this seminal album for free via Amie Street.

Obvious troll is obvious, but that's some top notch venom. I would welcome trolls on the web if they all had such humor.

Dave Liebman's site has the CD booklet pdf, with some pretty hairy band photos.

@Kargatron - thanks, I'll follow that up
