You're welcome with Nic's stream.
It nicely dovetails nearly 70 versions
that can be listened to for hours (or days).
(that Phonographies title is nice too)
Dream Twice - Levels of Perception
A bit more floaty and then a bit more spooky and slightly less satisfying than the newer release, but quite enjoyable. Also free.
-Peaceful trio of sax/steel-string guitar/vibes&marimba. A bit of a Mediterranean jazz influence... the kind of thing that would get released on the Dodicilune label.
Your two Pea Soup links are both the Plasy, Czech Republic version
done in 1999 during the analog days of this piece - just one of the 69 versions.
I like the fact that the other versions provide you with a nice varied mix of
instrumentalists from all over the world.
I've come across a personal coincidence concerning past performances of this work:
Yes, today (it's still Oct. 24 here) is the 40th anniversary of the first performance
which is why he's offering this...but I've noticed that exactly 1 year ago
(on its 39th anniversary) that it was performed at the very same venue
(with the same concert series) as the one that I'm arranging a festival for in Köln of
next year. Anyway, it's still wonderful to hear these versions randomly overlapping -
especially because of the varied instrumentation that I mentioned earlier.
I'm almost tempted to either let it run regularly in a particular area of the house...
or create my own version using the 69 performances that he provides.
W.o.W. Wand of Watt is a collaborative work for electric guitar and computer live-sampling and generative sound synthesis. Each resulting piece explores the conception, installation and live articulation of context-specific situations in which sound is an emerging phenomenon. The generation, capture, amplification, processing and diffusion of sound are entirely taking place on stage, in real-time.
Three different versions of this work were presented. W.o.W. #1 and W.o.W. #2, both commissioned by the Granular association, took place, respectively, at the city of Aveiro, in Espac?o Performas, in October 2009 and during the 3rd edition of the Metasonic Festival, at the Goethe Institut, in Lisbon, in April 2010.
The recording now presented documents a private performance of W.o.W. #3, on the 4th of June of 2011, that concluded a four-day artistic residency developed at the Oficinas do Convento in Montemor-o-Novo. Once again, space and the daily sounds of its wide context and common use were determinant to the activity of the musicians.
W.o.W. Wand of Watt is now available as a free download from www.cronicaelectronica.org
Recommended by Kargatron many moons ago and the start of a magic journey into the works of Ferrari and eRikm:
- "Winner of the « In memoriam » award of the « Académie Charles Cros » 2005, "Archives sauvées des Eaux" represents the encounter between a pioneer of concrete music, who died of late, and a live sounds manipulator. In the last six years, Luc Ferrari worked on a series of compositions to explore, in every direction, the totality of the concepts he experimented since the beginning of his work in the middle 50s and this CD is a great evidence of those. The idea raised as some water damaged a collection of magnetic tapes, where works from the 70s were recorded. The author decided to compose using what has been saved and proposed to eRikm to participate to a re-building project in Milan. The guest artist, live sampling Ferraris material and playing his own sounds, changed the original creations giving life to a new touching opera. The album, produced by Carla Chiti and Nicola Guiducci, is the live recording of the performance without any post-production."
