@jonahpwll, I've listened to samples of [em] but was not persuaded to take the plunge. Same goes for Wollny solo. Should give it a proper listen. I was given one of Wesseltoft's CDs by some Norwegian friends. Bugge Wesseltoft also officially holds the title of Norwegian pianist whose name most amuses my wife.
Not really recommending [em], just pointing out the tie-in. Also, if I recall correctly, I think when I (probably incorrectly) said Bugge's name out loud to my ex, it might have elicited a giggle from her, too.
Just in @ Bandcamp:
[align=center] Thy Veils - Live in Elisabetin
recorded live in 28 Septembrie 2014
Elisabetin Romano-Catholic Church
Piata Balcescu, Timisoara, Romania
Well into the process of demonstrating empirically that I could literally listen to Porya Hatami all day.
ETA, if I were really self-indulgent, my best of 2014 list could have half a dozen Hatami entries.
Various Artists/Italians Do It Better - After Dark (single track mix down version from soundcloud; Johnny Jewel's soundcloud has a lot of nice downloadable stuff.
Sun Kil Moon - War on Drugs... Anybody follow the Mark Kozelek v. War on Drugs thing? It's strange/funny/sad/funny. I have to admit I kinda like the song. Although not so much the "Adam Gronolfski Blues" second song. I liked this stereogum peace, which seemed kind of like the Benji review I would write, if I wrote reviews, although I mirror his length of history with Mark's projects, but am nowhere near his level of fandom. I also liked this Meredith Graves piece, or at least found it interesting. It's funny how she comes out so strongly about sexism (in a fight between to white men), and falls into a little bit of ageism herself. (She says when Mark compares War On Drugs to Fleetwood Mac he's commenting on somebody closer to his own age; Fleetwood Mac are all in their mid to late '60s, Mark Kozelek is 47, the War on Drugs guy is 35; so he's only closer from the (natural) perspective of a 20-something). But still and all I like reading her essays; it led me to this one on Andrew WK and Lana Del Rey, which was even better. Ok, that's all.
Oh except wait, I also read this film review, which lead me to this story about Mobb Deep cyber-threatening Pitchfork's Jayson Greene for writing a positive review of their reissue. Which seemed related too. Like Mark Kozelek May be being a jerk, but he's not really threatening or really hurting anyone? Or maybe he is; maybe being an online jerk is just as bad. But anyway. Ok, that's all.
I read an article last weekend (maybe the Guardian, I'll try to find the link) that argued that pop singers could not sing swing like jazz artists can; one example was comparing Robbie Williams with Frank Sinatra. It was loosely based upon Lady Gaga's recent duet album with Tony Bennett. I'd argue that Amy Winehouse was an exception, especially listening to these live tracks.
Now listening to a stream of Bob Dylan's Basement Tapes Vol 11. Sorry it is not available in the US, but the accompanying article is well worth a read if you are at all interested in Bob Dylan.
Listening to the Voyager Space Probe Golden Record, from the Internet Archive. I got the idea to look it up because some of the whale songs we discussed above are on this too.

Was there a chivalric strand in the history of jazz or something? Coincidence or some odd cultural connection like UFOs and funk?
Meanwhile, smooth transition from Muhal morning to Abrams afternoon.

I am not sure what the copyright situation is for this, but I've downloaded from Amazon, and iTunes also have it but £3 more
This is also available on emusic, but much more expensive because of the number of tracks, many of which are just short intros etc
How can you tell I am a BS completist?!!!!!
