As soon as I play the first track it takes me back almost 40 years, unbelievably, to a particular period in my life when I played it a lot, as one tended to do much more than now. I'm sure I even still have the LP. So many high spots on it. No signs of a UK tour yet, unfortunately.
Oh yes ! me too - - -
It has happened ever so often with the Twin and also with Autechre . . . When presented with new music from these two, my initial reaction has been something like "what the hell are they up to now ?, or "this is simply not coherent"
- But when the bits and pieces finds the right places in my head (so to speak) - Oh man !
- Maybe it's because these people are geniuses and for the most part way ahead of their time ?
Various Artists - Quark: How Does The Invisible Sound? [ Q06 ]
includes a nice new Pjusk track.
Quark: How Does The Invisible Sound? is a media project born with the specific intent of exploring the possible inter-relationship between sound and the invisible, strictly related to science and physics. It relies on monthly digital releases and a MaxMSP custom software called Cconfin, inspired by elementary particles interactions and a physical phenomenon known as Colour Confinement. The software allows the artists and musicians involved to seek and discover their own vision of the invisible through sound by treating and processing audio files via custom algorithms. Presented as a collection of digital graphic cards and heterogeneous sound art pieces, the research aims to find a deep connection as close as possible to the boundary of knowledge. An attempt at quantum sound in a not-visible yet perceptible world.
David Mengual Free Spirits Big Band - "Vertebrats"
-Always had a thing for Mengual's music. The term "free spirits" is very applicable to his music, no matter the size of the ensemble. There's a lightness and a flowing motion to his music that I always take to. I could be wrong about this, and I'm too lazy to research it, but I'm pretty sure that musicians such as Gonzalo Levin, Oriol Roca and Natsuko Sugao have been/still are members of Mengual's various ensembles.
