Well, Jasmine Guffond's Yellow Bell reminded me it was time to go through my SFL and try to whittle it down some. I had 1028 albums, including 2 blank pages, saved. The trouble is that I keep finding newer releases from some of the artists that I had saved and as I clear off one another is added.
Oh well, remembering the past keeps me looking forward to the future.

This is a famous album isn't it? Anyway a really good listen and bonus beats cheap as well. Thanks Confused (don't think you are really... ;-)

And that's the order I'd put them in for preference. I love Cyclone though the vocal tracks are a guilty pleasure. Wavelength being edits and remixes coughed up for Hollywood dollars is a curate's egg.

Not much time for music, but was just using Porya Hatami videos to teach about epistemology in a graduate curriculum theory class. A nice annual perk.

  • Thanks, @confused, following your Alina trail.

"This record is a collection of music borne of my longstanding obsession with the Arctic North. In place of any firsthand experience with the physical realities of northern extremes, with barren expanses of ice, desolation, and the manner of days as seasons in terms of their constancy of light, I have relied upon my own research, imagination, and upon the writings of Barry Lopez."

"Composed over a period of 10 years, these sound collages feel like they’re actually a number of sketches soldered together, as the vignette-like track titles suggest. Fans of Philip Jeck and William Basinski will find much to enjoy in ASUNA’s amorphous sound treatments. This is a fine album for staring out to sea on a grey day."

Sarathy Korwar - Day to Day

"The extraordinary debut album from percussionist, drummer and producer Sarathy Korwar – “Day To Day” – fuses traditional folk music of the Sidi community in India (combining East African, Sufi and Indian influences) with jazz and electronics. It’s a collaborative release by Ninja Tune with The Steve Reid Foundation – a charitable trust established by Brownswood / Gilles Peterson with the dual objective of helping musicians in crisis and also supporting emerging talent. Sarathy is an alumnus of the Foundation’s development program, mentored by Four Tet, Emanative, Floating Points, Koreless and Gilles Peterson – all trustees of the foundation. "

Les Poissons Autistes is a Swiss duo formed in 2001 by Philippe Simon and Stéphane Babey. They use instruments (guitars, bass, cello, trumpet, piano, etc.) and field recordings and feed them to computers to create haunting soudscapes. In recent years, they began joining forces with other artists in various side projects (Hemlock Smith & Les Poissons Autistes, Bio + Larkian + Les Poissons Autistes, Les Poissons Autistes featuring Arnud Sponar).
