Had an email from emusic today. They are adding £10 to my account to be spent before 31st December as a second thank you through their upgrades. Not complaining about that!
Just tried to log-in over there and got message saying incorrect t user name or password. Given how long I have been a member I should be able to remember those! I'll try again later, but I'd hoped to spend my £10 plus my remaining credit due to expire in a couple of days this morning.
Hi Greg same with me after being away for a week. I got half way in - so I could see the credit but then wouldn't recognise the email / password combo. Cleared my cache tried again and also the reset option - no go so I've emailed them. Gotta remain positive but all this grief is for a feature I simply won't use. (Big frowny face!)
At eMusic, our mission is to make the music you love
more accessible, on more devices. To achieve this, we are working to rebuild
eMusic from the ground up, and I'm happy to report that the first phase of this
transformation is nearing completion.
Over the past two weeks we've given
you unlimited free cloud storage, uploaded past eMusic purchases
to your personal cloud, added song lyrics to the player, and launched a
new eMusic app for both Android
and iPhone!
So, now you can upload and store your entire music collection, create playlists,
and play all your music anywhere you go.
Admittedly, the rollout of this
first phase has not been perfect. It took longer than expected, and even
disrupted service for some Members. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope
you soon agree it was worth the wait.
As a thank you for being an eMusic
Member, we've added a €10 holiday music credit to your account to use through
December 31, 2015. So, go ahead and stock up on holiday
music and make the most of your new eMusic cloud services by visiting emusic.com
and clicking on the My Music tab.
Wishing you and yours the very best
this holiday season.
After looking at the message board there yesterday I tried Chrome instead of Explorer, no difference. Then I tried Safari and logged in fine. Ideally I prefer not to use Safari now as Apple no longer update it for Windows. I'll have to download Firefox. I'll see what happens when I log in in a few minutes as I want to use my free credit as opportunities to download between now and 31st December are limited!
@greg I have just downloaded Firefox, no DL from €mu here either. - Now I just have to find this Firefox add-on Video DownloadHelper that @nereffid mentioned so I can restore some of the albums I lost back i 2009 due to a harddrive breakdown. - I wonder if it is already there or if it is something you need to add ?
Downloading is working fine for me in Chrome right now. And they finally refreshed my account :-) - twice :-(. Though I do seem to have only been charged once. Who knows?
I am having trouble spending it too because even though it is the most imminent balance to expire, when I buy albums the amount is not getting deducted from the courtesy credit but from other credit that expires later...
Puzzling...I have had no problem logging in, using My Music, or downloading music. My reload date is in a couple days, and I just now purchased two albums without difficulty (if a little slow for the DL to start). I am in Win7 using Chrome and DLM 4. And yet I haven't received the bonus credit, nor the email mentioned above by BN
So they eventually refreshed my account, gave me a month's credit for my trouble (though they filed it under "rollover credit" instead of "courtesy credit" which meant I had to communicate with them to check it was actually courtesy credit and not an error)....and now today my account has changed to saying it refreshes every two months and the next refresh date is mid-February. I must say I am impressed with the dogged creativity of the new errors that arise with each fix for the previous one.
Funny thing is, none of this really bothers me any more. I went through a phase of being mad at them a year or two back, but I think for now at least I got it out of my system. These days I approach it with the attitude that this is the online equivalent of the scruffy little basement used record store where there is an even chance that the disk inside the sleeve will be the wrong one and that things will be filed in weird places and there will be sticky deposits on the floor best not inquired into, but where for the experienced navigator there are bargains to be had and the chaos is part of the adventure. I think the booster pack sales really helped with this - I have had so much almost-free good music from them it's hard to be mad any more. And they do generally make things kind of right in the end.
Or maybe I'm just demob happy with the semester being done bar half the grading.
Well not only is Emu up and working for me, which means I've spunked all my credit on various recommendations from folk here or The Wire's best of list but also My Music has loaded for the first time. Perhaps Tiny Tim WILL have a Merry Christmas after all. Plus I refresh on the 27th, Hoopla!
I received an email yesterday puffing up the fact that MyMusic Cloud is now up and working; which it is for me and I hope others. Thing is I believe it was personalised as it told me how many songs I have waiting for me. Doubtless there are folk here with many more but it was a staggering number; especially as I continue to buy a fair number of cds and the occasional Bandcamp purchase. How am I going to find time to listen to 14,000 songs a reasonable number of times before deafness or worse sets in?
I have tried to get My Music on my mac but the website does not like to play. Its good on my PC, i think E music generally does not like to play with macs
I am still waiting. I did get billed again, so I have two months plus half a month that was still available as of 12/8 when the site switched over. Hopefully soon...!
I tried the upload feature using drag and drop with the Chrome browser. I've only tried single tracks so far, and it seems to upload at a rate of 20 seconds for every minute of play time for a track encoded at 160 kb/s. It wouldn't play a track immediately after uploading, displaying the message "track is being processed", but after a while I could play it. The embedded album artwork seems to come through OK. I was wondering why they were promoting unlimited uploads when other big players set limits, and I'm guessing they aren't anticipating many heavy users since it will take a long time to add a lot of material that isn't already in one's eMusic library.
@Plong42, I was curious to see how my first renewal since the fix would go. It charged me and gave the credit today. I offer this at risk of provoking jealousy, but intending to offer hope that they are actually able to fix the broken accounts when they eventually get around to it.
Have you tried sending them a direct message on Twitter ever day until you become the squeaking wheel? That was my tactic.
Hi all - I'm long time member of eMusic (as gdavispa). I've seen this site posted a number of times on the eMu boards - thought I'd finally register and say hey....
Hi dataGuy, welcome! There are a number of ex-emusic folk here and a few who have hung in over there at the other place. This thread notwithstanding, this place is kind of like what the message board at emusic might be like if it were mostly about music...
I tried to upload folders, without success...That would obv be a big advantage, rather than selecting single or multiple tracks. Has anyone been able to make this work?
I don't know how but somehow I fluked it with one of my albums, however with the state of E Music I will leave it just to have the e music selections instead. I am looking forward to being able to download some of the albums for free again, they are backed up but it can be a pain to keep going back to the hard disks
I just got an email for a free month. I got that other email last month with my total number of tracks at something like 9,900.
I'm tempted to try it but I keep reading about all the grief everyone is having.
Does this cloud thing actually work? I have my music stored on Google Music and it is pretty good about downloading everything onto a new hard drive when needed.
Does the emu cloud download allow you to quickly download all of your music or do you individually select tracks to download?
What do you think?
I really should delete this email too and fugetaboutit but I'm a sucker for a bargain
The download thing is a work in progress, more of a promised feature than a thing so far. Somebody figured out how to download tracks using some third party trick, but it's not a feature yet. Very promising, but still under development.
The site itself is a huge mess, even by its usual standards, very slow and pages often take a few attempts to load, and some folk are still locked out.
And it's still a great place to get excellent bargains on good music. Me, I'm willing to take the adventure in exchange for the bargains. If it were me I'd take the offer. Your mileage may vary, but I think it's fair to say you should assume going in that you are entering the twilight zone. Comes down to your tolerance for things not working.
I should add that it is at least possible that the broken accounts are a small subset of everyone, so you might do OK, who knows.
I got an email saying all 9036 tracks are now available. Of course that is not all that I have purchased from emusic as some are no longer available, some have changed label or been reissued etc. But it'll be enough for me in the cloud. When/if I wish to use the cloud there will be plenty of choice. I'm due to refresh in a couple of days time, that'll be 'interesting'....

It is tough to be a computer illiterate . . . :-)
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My goodness, this must have taken a looong time to count.
- I am very impressed !

cloud storage and playback of all your favorite music
on all your devices!
All your music (yes, all of it), safely stored and ready to play anywhere.
Play eMusic purchases past and present without having to connect and sync devices.
Play your music anywhere, at any time, even
offline.
