I've gone back and forth with Broderick's music as far as which album I like best (I like most of them), but after a bunch of years listening to the guy, I think this is the one that most resonates with me. Just four tracks, all of them lovely. The fourth and final track "Disappearance" is seriously powerful to my ears, and almost forces me into a meditative state like a drug forcing me into a nod.
This is Cousin Silas' sixth compilation of collaborations with his friends ... consisting of twenty five tracks from some of the most interesting characters in the DIY ambient electronic / guitar scene, folks both known and new to weareallghosts. It truly amazes me when I consider that this is only the first part of a three part "triptych" ... with the second and third parts due to drop in July ... the quality of the collaborations really does whet the ol' whistle for more.
It would be unfair to single out any one of the 25 friends ... but it is a pleasure to note the variation in sound that is included: we have traditional ambient electronica, deliciously beat-infused downtempo, and feedback-laden guitar sounds all included in a compilation that demonstrates the kind of talent and ingenuity that Cousin Silas has on speed-dial.
All monies raised from the sale of this album will be donated to Hospice UK. I am both fortunate and grateful to work for an employer who actively matches all donations made ... so everyone purchase will be doubled for the benefit of a very worthy cause.
I really do hope you will enjoy this album as much as I have.
rostasi for making me think about Charles "Bobo" Shaw. It sent me looking for this I'll look forward to finding out if some Funky Donkey is available for Canadians on the new emusic.
Slow day getting over jetlag in Belfast. Been delving back into long-unlistened-to post-rock folders.
Explosions in the Sky: All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone; The Autumn Project: A Burning Light; The Drift: Blue Hour; The Mercury Program: Chez Viking
It's always interesting to test my memory image of an album against the real thing again after a good time has passed. Two things surprised me this time around: to my ear, the EITS album was easily the least enjoyable, and the Autumn Project album, a free Amiestreet pickup by a less heralded band, was much more enjoyable than I remembered. Up next, Hungry Ghosts: Alone Alone (which I remember as being excellent, so here goes with high hopes):
ETA: No surprises here, that Hungry Ghosts album remains fantastic.
That Suzanne Cianni sat in my sfl for a while and then just when I decided a really wanted it it was gone with the new emu. Hope it comes back.
I have the same problem with the Emma Tricca album - also on the Finders Keepers label. I'll second the thumbs up for the Cianni set though. That I got hold of when I cleared my SFL list before the move to Beta - by the simple expedient of buying everything on the list. Who says Emusic don't know a thing or two about marketing ;-)

Me too. I had to use all my double boosters by Dec 17th, so I got it just under the wire. I'll start this morning with a most beautiful voice.
Back after a holiday in Tuscany, visiting the major sites, very hot (for those in the UK slightly hotter than at home, everyday, but they do have air con!). I've been catching up on new releases at emusic., downloading a couple more album from Smoke Sessions, including this:
It's like old home days - Astral Weeks this morning, and now Small Change. Was going to go for some newer, but I was thinking back to 1979, when I saw Tom at college.

Thanks to @rostasi for putting me on to this video
Edit. Enjoyed the listen. Now I'll have to keep an ear out for Stepanida Borisova
but decided to spin some of her playing today.
Was playing this at work earlier this morning - one of my all-time favorites.
