Saw this band at a festival this weekend. Great show, great music, not the best name. Although I suppose it fits...they self-describe themselves as "Punk Classical Hillbilly Floyd." The frontman Joziah Longo channels David Bowie and Bob Dylan, complex lyrics with a bit of humor and basic weirdness.
- "From Mr. Saboohi: “Chaos in the Cosmos”
(Shahr-âshub in Persian) is an experimental music inspired by the
well-known components of Iranian culture such as literature, miniatures,
calligraphies and the art of carpet. Being aware that meta narratives
have no place in today’s world, it is aimed to be a micro narrative of
the Persian traditional poetry and music.
Chaos (Âshub) is a metaphor for the invention and discovering the new
disciplines and Cosmos (Shahr) is a metaphor for the established
disciplines.
We respect other nations’ music and believe that what constitutes the
future of the music is a dialogue between the contemporary and
traditional music. Thus, we look at the western music from the second
half of 20th century (from1950 onward) and consciously bracket all the
appeal of tonal music in order to rediscover the harmonics and
non-harmonics of the music by itself."
Pretty much my only Amie Street pop discovery that made it into the rotation. Outstanding power pop type stuff from a guy named Rick Hromadka - AllMusic review. Well worth seeking out if you can find it anywhere

Otis Taylor - Fantasizing About Being Black
"In 1984 Muji [a department store?] commissioned Haruomi Hosono to compose in-store background music."

- Awesome !
Robert Henke - Atom/Document
Long time since I listened to this. Includes some techno played on a piano. I am not certain the piano survived. Good stuff.
(Video has no visuals unfortunately)
Steve Reich - Four Organs: Phase Patterns
Golly that's swell. I think this album gets overlooked due to the dreaded electric piano
