Well, the thing about rating music... I see that someone has rated this as a 1 star album on emusic. Not because they thought the music was crappy but as I scrolled down to comments, it's because they couldn't get it to download. So much for ratings....(4* for me)
At any rate, I really enjoyed The Third Eye Foundation & thought I should do a little exploring. From 2000 Merge Records Third Eye Foundation mastermind Matt Elliot moves resolutely into new territory with each record and "Little Lost Soul" may be his most stunning progression yet, a dreamy, occasionally lush, always captivating album. 'Drum-and-Bass' is far too limiting a label for this music. Elliot constructs his songs from samples, found sounds, and traditional instrumentation, resulting in a unique electronic music that feels completely organic.
ps- I really enjoyed the listen and look forward to it coming up in the rotation.
Master-work. In my opinion one of the best album of all time and probably the sadest too. Epic crossing through loneliness, haunted thoughts, thin hope (so thin), desolation, melancholy and all the surrounding shit when someone's missing. A record from the heart. A real record.
My only regret is that it was never pressed on vinyl.
Underworld- dubnobasswithmyheadman (20th Anniversary 5-cd super deluxe edition 2014)
Still can't believe all the free/cheap music I got from that x-box music deal; still working through it all 2 years later!
Funnily enough I was just tidying files and stumbled upon a folder where I had downloaded a dozen of those xbox albums and, because it was not my usual download place, promptly forgot about them.
It's tough to take a break from ingesting new music when your past self gives you a dozen free ones.
Honoring the magnificent Prince Buster who died today.
Sad to hear of his passing. One of mant tracks that the British group Madness based their early career on in fact you have the punked up energy of their version in the second half of this clip.
The new one from Jamal Moss. A lot more focused than The Acid Documents mainly because it's 9 tracks in 32 minutes. The last track - and it moves through various styles, is almost Gabba which proved a little too loud when the plumber and I were trying to discover weird water pipe noises!
Still with the shopping trip; I stood with this in my hand for five minutes trying to figure out if I already had it, said "to hell with it - it's Miles". Thankfully I didn't. Great stuff which through 4 cds is going to top and tail my Friday.

I also have a soft spot for sad songs.
