  • Just had a look on the site, the prices have gone up a lot, all prices seem to be £5, seems to be a deal breaker can see a lot of customers going

Have just checked the Reddit forum & there's a post from MattD at Triplay:

"thanks for bringing this to our attention! We failed to catch this issue while testing an update that was released last night. We will be rolling back this change shortly"

Good to see it was just a mistake and not a new policy!

    Yes, very good !   :)
In euroland the prices are right now from 5,49 to 9,49 per album, depending on the label.

So  now it's time to get some of the many tracks albums while the prices are at a reasonable level.
    - such as this 95 track album for 4,99
  • OK, glad that is the case
  • There is a comment from Matt @ eMusic on the reddit thread claiming that was an inadvertent change during some testing last night, and that it will be corrected.

    Already too late . . .

Dang. That'll teach me to look at Emusers before heading off into the depths of my F: Drive... Still good news overall.
  • Well, what about the 3 or 4 new albums I've seen this week on the US site priced at $8.99, and they weren't anything special like double length or anything?   I don't remember what they were because I just moved right along, muttering "Yeah, fat chance".   That wasn't actually what I said.
  • Those are the half-price booster month albums.

    Blog entry from today:

We’re pleased to bring back ratings and reviews for albums – a popular community feature that can help our members continue to discover and enjoy music in their favorite genres or in new genres yet undiscovered.

We’ve added thousands of previously available reviews by our own editors on music from artists you’ve been listening to across our entire catalog, as well as previous ratings by the community.  We’d love to now engage our members to participate in rating recent releases and music they’ve been enjoying in the past months.

One new improvement we’ve made on our previous ratings system is to allow members to provide an opinion on both purchased AND uploaded music, so long as the music uploaded is available within the eMusic catalog.

It’s OK to just rate an album without leaving a review, but more members agree that a short (or long) review is helpful to provide more insight and context to a rating, so if you have the time…more is more!.

Stay tuned… in the coming weeks we’ll be introducing the capability of filtering browse results by ratings and many more requested player and app features.

OK - it might have been an error whilst testing, but was it a test for doing this in the future with some warning? I am surprised that eMusic has kept going so long with a differentiated payment system depending upon side of the Atlantic. There are pros and cons with both, but it must be simpler for them to have one approach

It has been about three months now since I left eMusic. I haven't missed it yet as I am still catching up upon lots of music I'd downloaded and never played or only played once. I am sure there have been a few albums I would have downloaded and liked but I am discovering great music already on my iPod anyway.

    THIS...
I have folder upon folder of unsorted downloads from the cheeky music blog years, well over a hundred in just one folder I've been working through all week (and yes I make myself listen to all of the album - just to make the process more long winded...).

    AND YET
I feel no temptation to put Emusic on hold let alone leave. it took a fantastic effort of will to only buy the super booster once this month. I keep telling myself that I'm hoarding for a rainy day (er, like today?) just incase my retirement home has zero wi-fi (Many parts of likely island still don't) But really I'm going to have to live a very long and healthy life to listen to all this. [File under First World Problems].
  • I've said before here that eMusic became an addiction for me, especially when there were booster sales. I am sure one day I will go back, if it is still in its present form but at the moment there is a kind of freedom not to continuously look for new discoveries there.

Well, that was the first thing that came to me also. I'm very happy with the per track pricing in Canada, but would enjoy getting a chance to get that 95 track album Brighternow posted up there^^ at US album pricing. I've added a lot of brilliant albums with 4 tracks or less to the library and rarely download albums with more than 10 tracks. Since the double boosters I've gone beyond that as I'm currently cleaning up my iTunes. Trying to focus in on some of the folks I really want to hear and actually deleting the folks  I'm not interested in completing their album. (Still can't bring myself to delete full albums - just in case) I have deleted a lot of samplers and I'm trying to avoid adding any new ones. It would be nice to know when or if they are going to have a one price system. Might be time to start downloading the short track albums in the Save for Later & My Wish lists and make a new list named Bargains on the new eMusic
Or I could just use the thread....

Well, isn't it just like that Emusic. Friday the 13th & I can't access their site. Lots of interesting albums have been posted here lately and it just locks up when you try and get there. Darned Emusic!

(I just remembered there's a link here that shows if a site is down. I hope it's not a pattern for the weekend)
    Thanks http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/emusic.com.html#   -It's down(now)

The classical label Alpha seems to have disappeared since a week or two ago. Just after I spent an hour assembling a wishlist from them. Except there is one album still there. Which gives me slight hope it's one of those temporary things.
Also Oído Records seems to have lost part of its catalog.

And Channel Classics has lost some albums too.

Maybe It's just another one of those weekend problems. I'm seeing 6 Alpha albums in Canada.  I'm not sure what there was before but we have 13 Oído Records albums listed.
Channel Classics has 123 listed here.

But these has got nothing to do with https://outhere-music.com/en/labels/alpha

If I remember correctly, some of the Outhere labels vanished before the migration, such as Ricercar and Phi.
    https://outhere-music.com/en/labels/ricercar
    https://outhere-music.com/en/labels/phi
( @Nereffid asked about them on the old Emu board)

    - And Linn vanished after (or because of) the migration.
    https://outhere-music.com/en/labels/linn-records

The various Hat labels is still there (see the label thread)
    https://outhere-music.com/en/labels/hathut
    - And are still being updated. An example:

  • Well, something to learn here all the time. Thanks.
  • Btw, that Braxton Willisau set is highly revered, for anyone unfamiliar.

Right, as @brighternow noted, five of the Alpha ones still are a different Alpha altogether (the sixth I suspect is still on the site only because it is wrongly associated with this other Alpha). Channel Classics is largely still there, but I had this album on my wishlist for instance and it has disappeared since a week or two back. This album is an example of one that used to be available on Oído Records but now draws a blank when I click through from my wishlist.

Now Zig-Zag Territoires is gone (except, as now seems almost customary, for one stray album).

My classical wishlist is being depopulated faster than I can buy cheap credit to secure items on it. The current rate of label departure seems rather alarming. Maybe it's a distributor with multiple labels pulling out rather than a trend?

Bringing me to a state of trying to make sure there is nothing on my wishlist that I really want enough to be disappointed if it disappears next week is not a great way to retain my long-term membership.
  • Blogpost from APRIL 25, 2018

Outside of the normal bug fixes and general updates for better performance on our apps and website, we’ve also rolled out a handy set of search and filter enhancements that we’re excited for our members to try out. The new tools are designed so you can save a heap of time and get on with building up your music collection, while the discovery features will help make it easier to find more music by your favorite artists.  Don’t forget to update your app today so that you have access to:
    New tags for singles
We’ve now tagged “singles” to help you better organize browsing and shopping, especially when you are looking at new releases or viewing an artist’s works.  You can find the tag in the bottom right corner as you can see on Laura Marling’s Wild Fire in the screenshot below.

    Laura Marling

    Filter by singles/full albums
For more targeted browsing, a filter for singles/full albums has been added that can be applied when browsing artist, albums or tracks.
Album Features* added to artist pages
Now on the eMusic store, when you go to any artist page you’ll find not just their current and past releases, but their whole body of work, including “Appears On” features with other artists — a great way to find more music from the artist, as well as new like-minded musicians.

Screen Shot 2018-04-25 at 34623 PM

*Coming soon the artist page will also include full collaborations for 100% view of the artists body of work. Stay tuned!
To make sure you get all these great features, don’t forget to upgrade to the latest version of your iPhone/Android eMusic app.

Has a bunch of Tzadik disappeared? Perhaps they will return after re-pricing, as has happened before.
    Oh no !
There's only 46 albums left in Europe.
    - Some of the albums still displays  in my wishlist but . . .

Sorry, That Album Does Not Exist

    In my book this is . . . . Hmmm . . . . not exactly true.

I hope the 400 and something albums will return, but I have my doubts.

Probably a silly question but how do I go about accessing the Digital Booklet tracks that I have recently downloaded.
    -always
Oops, never mind, I didn't think it would be that easy to search. Now to test it out before the album ends.

Ps The iTunes page didn't work. I don't see any digital booklet track in my library.
