Last time I went to play the cd I couldn't find it - so off to Emu I went. Not sure it was the live version I had previously (probably was given the state of finance for recording and the chance of this being recorded twice.) Anyway a fantastic listen while we await the rain... if it ever comes.
I am still really enjoying this, despite not understanding a word of most of the spoken texts (poetry in Norwegian with occasional translation; I can pick my way through parts of written Norwegian texts, but my ear is still not good enough to follow it spoken to any appreciable degree). The reading is expressive, Norwegian has some beautiful phonemes, I like Vold's voice, and the Andersen/Frisell backing is great, which is the main thing that carries it.
Jacob Gade (1879-1963) – Danish composer and violinist – is world famous as the composer of Tango Jalousie.
In 1925 the Palads Theatre in Copenhagen was the natural choice when
the new Zorro film with the superstar Douglas Fairbanks in the title
role was to have its Danish premiere. All the sails were set; the
conductor of the cinema orchestra Jacob Gade composed a new tango for
one of the scenes, and he called it Jalousie – tango tsigane. Since the first performance in 1925, what we now simply call Tango Jalousie has
become the absolutely most frequently played piece of Danish music for
almost a century. The sheet music was published both in Denmark and
internationally, and the gramophone and radio made all the difference;
innumerable orchestras, violinists and conductors have dipped into the
score in the course of time. And now the turn has come to one of the
world’s absolutely leading orchestras, the tradition-conscious Vienna Philharmonic.
If emusic ever got the eilean rec catalog I would be buying boosters. (The whole catalog is 75% off at bandcamp, but that still is a big chunk of cash all at once).

I hear you, @Germanprof. Thanks for calling this to my attention--I love Monty Adkins's stuff. Also just discovered his recent Moeror, NYOP on Cronica's bandcamp page.
What a wonderful world, with such things in it. You can stream it on Jane's Bandcamp page. Check out the first track, with Jane on flute in duet with Don Pullen on piano, in Pullen's "Big Alice"
Well . . . . . yes . . . . . It's an attempt to put the dialect of southern Jutland into letters. A dialect, if spoken right, is very difficult for me to understand.

@confused If you enjoyed the Samla records; and don't already know them; don't forget to check the Zamla Mammas Manna albums and indeed the Von Zamla records and then there's all the Lars Hollmer related projects... My 18 year old brain was blasted once more when I first heard Schlagerns Mystik / For Aldre Nybegynnare having made my first mail order purchase from Recommended Records. Etron Fou Lelouban always made me wish that my French was better than lousy.
You would think this would be mainly of academic interest, but I really enjoy it. God knows where I got it, possibly Amie Street. The Amazon reviews include an interesting, lengthy comment from one of the recording engineers involved in this project
