Probably a final update before I batten down the hatches to get ready for work tomorrow.
A K Salim album features Pat Patrick from the Arkestra and Yusuf Lateef. Thanks to @Brighternow for the next two (and @confused) Dicataphone - APR 70 Nicolas Bernier - Transfert / Futur Abbass Mehrpouya - Mehrpouya Sitar (lp allegedly African Jumbo according to my rip of this boot of supposed Turkish psyche-tinged sitar) Abdul Hamd Ghulam Kibria - Mere Peer Wala Dera (reminds me it must be 25 years easily since I saw Nusrat Fatah Ali Khan)
February 5, 2016 marks 100 years since the founding of the Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich, and thus the beginning of Dada.
To mark the occasion, Cities and Memory: Dada Sounds marks a century of
Dadaism by applying the techniques and practices of Dada to field
recordings from around the world, bringing a Dadaist approach to the
concepts of sound, place and memory and creating a new, Dada-inspired
sound world.
I wasn't crazy about this album at first... or second, either. It was such a deviation from the first two albums, both of which I adored... especially the first Psychic Temple album, which is going to be an all-time favorite after it's all said and done.
But now, stepping back from expectations and disappointments, I can listen to this album in more of a vacuum... and it's really good. Can't remember enjoying it previously as much as I am right now.
@djh Those Codona albums are amazing. The third one is probably my favorite ECM Records release ever.
