I was a Blues fan back then, and saw the original Fleetwood Mac, probably around 1969 or1970. He was 3 years or so older than me, and quite impressed me with his playing back then. At the time he was up there with Clapton as a British Blues guitarist. RIP
Q Magazine is closing - an influential music monthly. I wish I still had the first edition from the 1980s! I kept it for several years then it went in a clearout.
Gary Peacock's passing has been officially confirmed. Apparently there was some sort of hoax site that kicked out google results saying that his death was a hoax.
Very sad to see the passing of a legend, especially to COVID-19. Now I'm listening to his most recent album with Robin Guthrie, Another Flower. Grateful he left such a rich legacy of recorded music.
Damn. Waaaay too young, and I was a big fan of his, both with MSJO and his solo/trio/quartet work. I had the pleasure to see him play live at Mezzrow with Scott Robinson a year ago (and, in fact, ended up seated so close to Frank that I could have literally reached out and touched the piano keys from my seat... such is the intimacy of Mezzrow - see photo below, which is actually wide angle, so things were even closer than they appear). Also saw him a few different times with Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra, most recently at Birdland a couple years ago.

Speaking of which I only found out yesterday that Carlos Santana's brother Jorge also a notable guitarist died recently.
I’ve always enjoyed, more, his solo Chatham Square
work than his Phil Glass ensemble additions. Eighty.

Leslie West: You want my advice? Buy your wife a diamond ring, some flowers, a push-up bra. Don’t buy her a gun.
Apparently he died back on Halloween, but it was just announced today (?)
