I read that as a backspace-glitched "vince's subjects" referring to my jokey invocation of an objective test procedure for deciding the thread's answer.
Oops. Showing my age. Back when computing engines were huge steam-belching beasts, Control-H (written ^h) was the backspace on most systems. Still is if you fire up a terminal emulator.
Ok, I've noticed a trend here (and I'm as guilty as the rest of you).
Otis Redding, Bowie, Ray Charles, Nirvana, etc... - surely there must have been a perfect pop song recorded since 1991?
Hasn't there?
Hmmm...?
there must have been.........
?

@ Compulsive:
No, I'm afraid not, Since I moved to the countryside 7 years ago (170 km. from Copenhagen) I almost never go to concerts anymore.
I'd like to, though...
Vevo, as well as Sony and Warner videos on youtube is N/A in Denmark, but Gaga does have some damn catchy songs.
"Is it Any Wonder" by The Cowsills. Yes, those Cowsills.
GREAT choice, I'm gonna have to change my vote. I first came across this song on a Yellow Pills power pop compilation CD many years ago and haven't gotten it completely out of my head since. Eugene Edwards does a nice cover that is available on eMusic here.
Yeah, that "Yellow Pills" comp is the only place it ever appeared, as far as I know. I will give a listen to that cover version!
Another great pop song is "Passionate Kisses," written by Lucinda Williams, although the recording by Mary Chapin Carpenter is better known.
Some friends of mine were in a band and used to play this song...People would get this kind of dreamy, faraway look in their eyes. "Shouldn't I have all of this and...?"
They are "world famous" in Denmark for their total lack of talent.
I think their audience is split in two, one are people that go to their shows because they are super bad, and the other is people who actually likes them.
Despite their obvious lack of talent, I do find them rather charming.

Ok, now that I've had time to think,
how about Blur - Parklife
and
Kings of Leon - Molly's Chambers
- But yes, there is a trend.
Kashmir - Still Boy
Kashmir - Persuit of Misery
- Both from 2010.
These may no be pop, but certainly wonderful tracks from a great Danish band.
(outstanding performance)
Erasure - "A Little Respect" (Okay, you're going to have to set aside the slightly disturbing outfit.)
The Raveonettes - "That Great Love Sound"
The Archies - "Get on The Line"
The Beatles - "Twist and Shout"
Electric Light Orchestra - "Mr. Blue Sky"
The New Pornographers - "The Slow Descent Into Alcoholism

On the charts and in the running: "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga. I don't care for her music in general, but that particular song is close to perfection.

Speaking about catchy:
Nephew - "Police Bells & Church Sirens"
- High voltage powerpop from Denmark.
