Saw that...must say I fall into a good many of those categories, if not most. The affluence is obvious, because we can afford a music subscription; surprised that nearly half are female; surprised at the 2/3 under 45, as I have always understood that the eMu audience trended older (which goes with affluence). If I were at that meeting, I'd be asking about the figures for ongoing subscribers (excluding people who take the free trial and split).
Congratulations to doofy - the undeclared winner of the stroll down memory lane replies to the This Site Sucks post at the eMu MB. Curious that only eMusers replied. For my part once doofy played the "Again, I win" card, it was all over. Can't top that.
Well, to continue the Otto Klemperer saga from above, I find this newly dropped Otto Klemperer/Classical Masters - a behemoth of 720 minutes which includes all nine Ludwig Van symphonies, different recordings at a slower pace by it says not whom, as well as several Brahms and Bruckners as well as some other pieces, for a whopping $5.84. Aside from a dearth of performance information, I am now well content with Otto's own 16.4 hour playlist.
75% of their females are really males' second accounts.
Haha. I didn't believe that doodled number, either.
Looks like a cool office space to work in, though.
He said that he doesn't have memory problems when singing his old songs, songs he loves so much.
Speaking of that and connecting to the R.I.P. thread, my sister who is a huge Etta James fan saw her perform a couple of years ago. My sister happened to see Etta after the show rolling on her wheel chair into their bus. She said that Etta's eyes were blank, as if there was "no one home." Apparently she could still deliver a decent show, but no more.
Well, after having sworn "Nevermore" I got another offer for a free month worth $6.49. There's something something I've wanted that's exactly that much, so I thought, "What the hell." When I clicked on the link I had a balance of $11.99! Typical screw-up, maybe, but this time it's in my favor. Actually, it wasn't I who rejoined; it was "my wife." I guess she's part of that 75%.
I had uninstalled the DLM, so I guess I'll have to take my chances with whatever version they have out now, unless someone has links to other versions.
Also, can't help but be proud that my two selections, TunnelSix and Kekko Fornarelli, are currently the top two most downloaded jazz albums on emusic. I'm not sure what the algorithm is for that type of thing, whether that counts for most downloaded ever or just the last 30 days or one week, but it's still pretty nifty. I'm glad people are getting to hear those wonderful albums and hopefully enjoying them as much as I do.
Well, it had to happen eventually. After just over a month, Kekko's "Room of Mirrors" finally dropped out of the top three most download on emu (I think it's now sitting at #14). Tunnel Six's album hung around the top ten for most of the month, but over the last week or so have dropped down to about #30 most downloaded.
Those guys had a hell of a ride on emu. They deserved it. Their albums are great, and I hope to hear more.
I really need to make more effort to stay away from the emusic discussion boards. Once again just recently I've asked some questions directly addressed to the moderators, bumped them several times with no reply. So I emailed the mods direct. No reply after a week. I honestly think they would have been better off with a blanket policy of not replying to anything on the boards, rather than the current practice of replying to some people's questions within minutes and flatly ignoring others. Makes me mad. All recent evidence suggests that Noah may have been one of those let go. Not sure Justin really has time or much interest. I should just stay here where people are actually civil and helpful. Sincere congratulations everyone for creating a true alternative here.
I only go there for Dhaun's New Releases in Europe (more invaluable than ever now), but inevitably get drawn into other discussions, and I often wonder why I bother. Yes we do have a great alternative here. It is often significant that on some of the better threads there the majority of contributors are emusers too
For the four of you on these boards who remember me from back in the olden days,
and for the seven or eight others who visit the boards to talk about music instead of complain about this crappy web site
Hey, I think we've talked about this before, but maybe in regards to Amie St. downloads...
But I just discovered a folder on my system that basically dupes every album I've purchased on emu. I don't know why, but I thought that wasn't happening for me on emu. I remember with the Amie St. downloads, it would go into my downloads folder, which I then had to grab with itunes, and after doing that, it created a dupe folder in my itunes library folder, which meant I could delete the original file (in my downloads folder).
Is anybody surprised that I just found the same thing, but instead of in my downloads folder, it's a separate emusic folder under My Documents? Maybe back in the day when we all had this conversation, maybe emu came up then, too, but it just wasn't as much of an issue because I had just joined emu at the time and didn't have much music in that folder to speak of.
I think I'm about to delete the entire folder. It would clear up like 4 gigs of space for me.
I am guessing you have iTunes set to copy new folders/files to your iTunes music folder. Thus you have the same music in two folders: the My eMusic folder that the DLM sets up, and the iTunes Music folder.
If that's the case, you should be fine to delete the contents of the my eMusic folder. But I'd guess the DLM will create a new one next time you use it.
Does that sound right to everybody? I also have 'extra' copies of albums in the my eMusic folder...have always intended to back them up to a DVD before deleting.
Just check that the two copies are in fact the same and that iTunes is not creating an AAC version .. otherwise you could lose the original MP3s by deleting.

Well said Nerefidd - absolutely right!
I wanted to respond, but the amount of sarcasm that it really calls for did not sit well with my conscience.
I actually posted an old-jazz question on the eMu board last week specifically hoping that Mailman would respond, which he did.
ETA cache clearing fixed it.
Once again blossomed
On the eMu message board.
If anyone besides an eMuser responds to Nereffid's cast into the waters over on that Ripoff thread I'll be amazed.

And amclark2 now.
With three in a row
I think it may be well seen.
