iTunes hates me. I think the feeling is mutual.

  • Good advice, Doofy, it reminds me that I need to do that again, as I haven't since January
  • I've become a big fan of Backblaze!

  • @rostasi Me too, and I thought I was covered. But if the drive fails, Backblaze figures it's not there anymore, therefore the backup shouldn't exist !
  • I have settings that notify me when it attempts to backup a drive and it’s no longer there.
  • I'll look into that. I even knew the drive was wonky, but never occurred to me that Windows wasn't reading it, since iTunes was finding/playing the music. Nobody's fault but mine...

  • So I save all my iTunes music up to iCloud plus have hard drive back-up. Is that enough or should I do more?
  • Usually, that's enough, but it's recommended to have another physical backup somewhere outside your home in case you lose one in a fire or theft. It really depends on what you're saving and how precious the contents are (wedding or baby pix, for instance - even if your music is your "baby").
  • Interesting idea, but I’m unsure why bother when you can already use an iPod to play Spotify.
I currently have nearly 9000 Spotify tunes on it now that have the extra ability to crossfade segue
the tunes and have good sound as well. Seems like a lot of tinkering to get to moderate enjoyment.
  • Yes, I think this is definitely a "Because it's there" kind of project
  • Does anyone know how to sync 2 I Tunes libaries, 1 is on my mach the other on a PC, it becoming a pain with my music library on Sonos? Any help much appreciated
  • Hi - So last week I wrecked my car (first over accident in over 55 years - no one was hurt!).  It was the one place I could easily listen to all the CDs my wife hates.  My new car, of course, has no CD and features Apple Music.  I have used iTunes for years to manage my music, make playlists, burn CDs, etc.  I don't tend to download music to my iPhone.

Is there a way to link Apple Music to my home iTunes library?  What have other folks done to make it easy to use playlist, etc. in your mobile listening studio????  I pick up my new (used) car tomorrow.  Thanks for any suggestions.

    Cheers.
  • I plug my phone into the USB port, and my "radio" lets me choose the phone as an input. Then I listen to whatever I want using Apple Music (or Marvis, which I prefer).

I download music since I do not want to use data to stream. Downloading music to the phone is also necessary for airplanes.

I upload all my music, from whatever source (vinyl, CDs, iTunes, Apple Music, eMusic et al), to the cloud. I then use wifi to access it on my iPhone, iPad and Apple Music for my iMac desktop. I use Bluetooth to connect in to cars, earphones, hearing aids (!!) etc.

As @Plong42 says, I download my favourites to my iPhone and IPad for when I’m flying or out of wifi range.
  • Thanks - these are great places to start.  Cheers
  • Having been away for a couple of weeks I'm just joining this thread. I use iTunes for all my digital music, ie downloads and uploads of CDs. This, or at least much of it, is then put onto my iPhone or my now ancient iPod Touch (about ten years old!) This then connects through Bluetooth to my car. I can also connect in via the charge lead, but Bluetooth works fine. I have a big capacity phone, so I have a giant juke box in my car!
