  • @BN - thanks for the heads up about Jackson and His Computer Band. That was such a great find on Amie, I'm glad there'll be a follow-up.

  • I got the same thing GP. Needless to say, I was not tempted to take part.

@Craig, nothing about that graphic was remotely tempting, even the bits that were clearly supposed to be.

    That's sad, GP.

Never streamed or otherwise listened to a leaked album before. Kanye has brought me low!

I don't know about sad. The way she is presented is so plastic and literally doll-like, I find it almost entirely unattractive. (But then I am not sure I ever really got why "living doll" or "baby doll" would seem like descriptions of someone you wanted to be with, in any sense of that phrase.) To me there's a threshold beyond which the airbrushed/photoshopped/over-made-up versions of "sexy" don't even come across as all that human any more. It's like sugary synthetic flavoring that doesn't taste like the real fruit any more.

In another vein entirely, I am enjoying this new release from Oathless, NYOP at bandcamp.

And in yet another vein entirely, Luciferous Logolepsy is a very fun website. It might even elicit abderian responses.

    Aoki Takamasa - Rv8

Newish release on Raster-Noton, very much doing what that label does best. Cool stuff. So far it's kind of like Alva Noto with samples added (and not quite the same level of rhythmic intricacy). Stream a preview at the link.
ETA, not quite as interesting all the way through as the opener suggested. Some nice tracks though.

... and darkness came by Various

Somehow I missed this when it was released last December, despite the plethora of artists I follow on it.

87 tracks (note: download is 600MB+) including e.g. Nils Frahm, Olafur Arnalds, Marcus Fischer, Simon Scott, loscil, Kane Ikin, Kreng, Machinefabriek, Hammock, Peter Broderick, Antonymes, offthesky, Hauschka, Rafael Anton Irisarri, Erik Skodvin, Max Richter, Dustin O'Halloran, Ian Hawgood, Talvihorros, etc, etc, etc, etc. $10 with 100% of sale price going to Doctors Without Borders and The Humane Society.

    How did I miss this?

    Rectified.

Well, although it's too wet to mess around in the garden, the sun is shining and I feel like I should be doing something. I am, however, going to listen to some of the free tracks from Marco Lucchi that Germanprof introduced me to.

Turns out, I was just being hasty. There are some really nice releases, and they're free too. Thanks again.
