  • amclark2 - I'm actually in complete agreement on the James Blake. Still don't love it, but it keeps getting better. The Feist cover is particularly good.

Thanks for yet another $6.49 for $0.99 eMu!

Ok, so the only Feist song I know is 1, 2, 3, 4, and I mostly know it as "1, 2, 3, 4, Monsters knocking at my door..." from Sesame Street because that's on a mix-cd the kids have.

    - Yeah ! ! !
  • @kez, the electric violin comment made me think of this one:

    Lost and Found by kbb

Some lovely electric violin leading a prog rock/fusion outfit. Track 6 is especially nice.

    - A very descriptive album title . . .
  • @Germanprof - re KBB's 'Lost and Found' - track 6 is very nice. Thanks.

Rec'ed by @BadThoughts on the Bandcamp thread. Liked it enough to buy another from Michael Chorney - Wonder.

    Michael Peters, Loft :Livelooping Improvisation
Very nice. Thanks, Plong42. (For one disoriented moment I thought you were referring to this Michael Peters. Not sure he's had many ambient moments.)

A compilation of Twins Cities rockers and the second release on Husker Du's Reflex Records. Has sweet nuggets like a couple live tracks by the Huskers, a live cover of "Ace of Spades" by The Replacements, and some tracks by Loud Fast Rules who changed their name to Soul Asylum before releasing their first LP.

The Reflex follow up to Barefoot & Pregnant this is a live comp recorded at Goofy's Upper Deck in 1983. More raucous than Barefoot due to the live setting (and no Mats on this one), but gives a fantastic taste of what the Twin Cities scene sounded like at the time.

I haven't seen you around in a while froggie, but if you see this, did you ever get to Goofy's?

  • @Brighternow: The album Doofy posted is The House Next To Yours by a guy named Mike Cassells.

As for me, at the moment I'm listening to my stomach growling... It's better than most of what comes out these days, but I can still only give it about 2 stars.

I never got around to fully digesting these, and now there's another one that I'm late on getting. How can this be more than 2 years old already?

    Imaginary Friends by Various Artists
I'm a very moderate fan of compilations - I'd usually rather have a more cohesive experience. This one has some nice tracks (including the first one by Field Rotation) and is kind of enjoyable smooth-ish, mellow electronic music, but the experience as a whole is more like pleasant background music than anything really substantial.

    Circle of Birds - self-titled
Circle of Birds is a collaborative effort, involving the instrumental rock group Unwed Sailor, Ester Drang, and country band Lasso. ... The album was recorded within 48 hours, with a fair amount of its music drawn from improvisation. It was mixed by Pedro the Lion's David Bazan and Unwed Sailor's Johnathon Ford.
    Nice. $1.47 @ emu.
