Kinda nice to have the Reccs back...They already pointed me to a Sam Rivers album I didn't know about. On the other hand, they also gave me a William Shatner rec, wtf?
...Also Adele and Amy Winehouse, who I guess I like just fine, as do approx 300 million other people.
Keep in mind, too, that the personal recs you get when you're not logged in will be different than the ones for when you are.
I was rec'd the Miss Frankie Rose album, which emu has been promoting, then I logged in and it disappeared from my rec list. The old rec engine worked the exact same way.
@BN - excellent! Leaves me wanting more from the Iskra String Quartet, but I see nothing else on Bandcamp from them! (edit: there is a bit more at soundcloud).
This one turned up as I was poking around for more Iskra String Quartet. Too Huge World (For String Quartet) from Music For Strings by Dan DiPiero, streaming from Bandcamp via ExFm. It is a bit more avant garde than the previously rec'ed Iskra material.
Free Erased Tapes compilation. Very lovely. (Link = to sign up page where you have to give an email to get it. Totally worth it.) Olafur Arnalds, A Winged Victory for the Sullen, Nils Frahm, Peter Broderick, Oliveray (=Nils Frahm/Peter Broderick collaboration), The British Expeditionary Force, and Rival Consolves (11 tracks total).
An oliveray is a delicious cocktail of Nils Frahm and Peter Broderick.
ETA: some tracks are rather in the style of Frahm's "Felt". Others have Broderick on vocals, among other things. Charming album.
This is really excellent. I am not sure that there was a last time that I was listening to a compilation album and was distressed that I had to interrupt listening and come back to it later. I'll be reviewing this on MiG in a week or two.
Writing the Olney MiG article got me in the mood to hear him really let loose, which he does very nicely on both of these. Both albums have lots of good guitar playing that I think might appeal to BigD, particularly One Rough Town. I really love the infectious rhythmic drumming in the opening track, 'Train Wreck' that is reminiscent of the click-clack of a rolling train and a harmonica that makes you think of a train whistle. Lots of rocking fiddle on both of these albums, too.

Active Suspension vs. Clapping Music Compilation
I really like that first track a lot.
RE: the haunting stuff, Maybe I should have picked this one instead:
The Legendary Pink Dots - Waiting For The Cloud
- Soooo gorgeous !
I like that Iskra thing, too. That's right up my alley.

Motion - Every Action
Similar territory to Shuttle358.

The Mumbai Suite feat. Sandeep Das on tablas is brilliant !

Really enjoying this on day 2. I got it at mTraks.

Over on NPR's music album preview.
