Anyone remember the episode of MASH when the cook creamed Father Mulcahey's fresh corn? That's how I feel every time Jan Garbarek starts playing, taking something fresh and crisp and turning it into a bowlful of blah.
A couple of weeks ago the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour was shown on British TV in a newly mastered version - I'm currenlty watching it, probably the first time I've watched it since I saw the TV premiere on Dec 26th 1967, when it was broadcast in black and white TV
I probably made more sense of the Magical Mystery Tour than I did as a 17 year old 45 years ago! It helped that I saw another programme two weeks ago that did try to explain it though
I've just been watching the TV news. Best wishes to anyone living close to the East Coast with the hurricane on the way - from memory, BT must be somewhere near it, maybe a bit further south?
In the last couple of days I have been revisiting some older Dylan albums amongst the music I've listened too. They still sound good to me!
Thanks, greg, but we might get only rain this time. We're about 90 miles from the coast, but the hurricane seems to be grazing the outer banks, which is much farther away. My own thoughts are for people in New England. I don't know how Elwood faired, but my in-laws in eastern Connecticut had only a generator for power for ten days. Some favorite places in Greenfield and Shelbourne Falls, Massachusetts and Brattleboro, Vermont received extensive damage because of the accompanying rain.
Jonah - which album is Matthew Halsall's version of Love Supreme on? I thought I had all his albums, and I couldn't find it on itunes or Amazon. Thanks

The Pharcyde - Bizarre Ride II
More jazz sampling hip hop in the vein of A Tribe Called Quest and Digable Planets. Also awesome.

Thanks, Guvera.
The perfect accompaniment to hate watching my college football team.

In searching for this on eMu, I found that a handful of the Chronological Classics are back.
Why not follow the trend?

Picked up some box sets of various stripes. The latest one...on track 115 of 348.
I've got the house to myself this afternoon, so blasting some old records.
Here's a good one from 1955; a couple of different all-star line-ups,including a quartet with Monk.

I think Big-d and Elwood are closest to where it's supposed to hit...
I've just been reading Jonah's latest BiTW email where he reviews this album, so I really had to play it again!
