Okay, yeah this really, really good. It feels like she has taken what she's done previously and refined it even further. The power in her voice and feeling in the music are just fantastic. "Laura" and the title track (which includes a male choir) in particular are really moving.
Thanks Guvera. I've downloaded some of the ECM's with long tracks, but saw that some were missing (the 2 long cuts on the Enrico Rava Quartet). I think I remember that during the Blue Note DL's that we occasionally had to search for tracks that may have been on compilations, but that doesn't seem to be the case with some of the missing long tracks. Maybe "album only" has come to Guvera's world on newer acquisitions.
@GP - that second disc is not a bonus, the live tracks formed the first disc of the original 1969 release. Truly wonderful. Not sure about needing to be there...
Ah, OK. Love the first disk (the live recordings). The noise experiments, troops of yelping monkeys etc, on the second one seem like more of an acquired taste (with a gentle song or two in between). The two discs are not exactly similar in aesthetic.
Ah, thought you might have them the other way around - in the 2011 remastered reissue there was an edition that only had the studio disc. The studio disc is, how shall we say, quite different - some say it grows on you...
Have you listened to Waters/Geesin collaboration 'Music from The Body' from that period?
No, I haven't - I'll look for it. It's a little before my formative years so I'm working backwards. Really mostly know Dark Side of the Moon/Animals/Wish you were Here/a few random other things at all well. I'll give the studio disc a chance to grow, this was just first listen; the live disc was great.

Musically, this is good, not great, boogie-woogie rock 'n' roll. However, only Gainsbourg could approach the Holocaust with this humor.
BTW, if anyone was looking for Gainsbourg's Aux Armes et caetera (his Reggae album) or Initials B.B. (the document of his affairs with Brigiette Bardot), you need to plow through his complete works (Int

Listening to the second, bonus disc. Hmmmm. .... I guess you had to be there.
AWESOME!
A handful of titles from this 1961 series have "regurgitated" themselves at Guvera - I will be chasing them down
