This one had me wondering where they went or if they're gone.

This one had me rooting through the vinyl (CDs too) to look for the Chief and finding the King as well. Youssou, that's just a bonus.

To Ba Nwa I Re
Just got her new CD in the mail yesterday and liked it, although I liked Don't Explain, her collaboration with Joe Bonamassa more - probably because it was blusier and had more hot guitar playing. I see they've got another forthcoming - that Joe is a busy man.
Heading to Israel on Monday, so trying to get in the mood. Jaffa Road is a Canadian band, but they sing in Hebrew and have a nice Israeli feel to the music. (Streaming from Bandcamp)
When Aly Tadros was offered her first paid gig, she had three original songs under her belt. The set time called for two hours.
She took it anyway.
With a voice as angelic as it is weather beaten, and music NPR Austin calls delightfully wistful indie folk with tender and earnest roots, Aly Tadros has spent the last decade traveling across Egypt, Turkey, Mexico, and Europe. Banned with her classical and acoustic guitars, ukelele, and vihuela, theres no denying her travels have informed the breadth of her songwriting, noted best for its intimacy, honesty and lyricism.
Tadros has played over 600 stages across North America and Europe in her four years as a touring artist. She also helped to form The Sweetness, a Toronto/Austin based collective of singer/songwriters. The Sweetness raised over $6,000 in the two weeks after forming as a band, toured Europe, and traveled across North America with a German documentary film crew commissioned by the Stuttgart FilmAkademie. The film is set for release in 2013.
This year has been her most exciting yet with invitations to showcase at The Folk Alliance International Conference (The Sweetness), CMJ, and endorsements from both Guild Guitars and Fender (ukulele).
Her sophomore album, The Fits, was produced by Duane Lundy (Jim James, Ben Sollee, These United States), and is set for release January 15, 2013.

A nice contrast to a great noisy quiet sun.
Looks like there's only time for two. It was a terrific lavender shaded sunrise and since it's warmed up to -1c, I'm off to (hopefully) watch the last of the winter snow melt away.
One of the many lasting gems that I'll be thanking Guvera for for quite a while. I still actually feel happy that Guvera has turned off the spigot for now. I'm looking forward to a spell of wallowing in all that new music I downloaded, getting to know it better, as well as spending more time with old friends that got drowned in the flood of new acquaintances. This week I reduced my "never played" playlist to zero, and now I have my "rated at least 4 stars and played less than 2 times" playlist down to 300 or so. After that I'm going to kick back and listen to random nice things for a while without any pressure to keep up with stuff. (Self-created pressure, I know, but this is the self I have to work with). In fact I might decommission my collection of how-recently-added and how-many-stars and how-many-times-played lists for a while and come up with some other creative way of generating a new mix.
Free downloads of the complete organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach, recorded by Dr. James Kibbie on original baroque organs in Germany, are offered on this site.
@kargatron, yes, I have some lists with "last played" criteria too. My whole current infrastructure is designed to make sure everything rotates through regularly. "Last played" is too simple, though; sometimes I find myself wanting rules that say "allow this album to be played three times and then rotate it off" or "make a random list of albums not played in the last six months but rotate albums off that list if I don't play them while they are on the list within the next 3 months" :-)
I am feeling like a holiday from all that, though. After a while it can sometimes feel too dutiful - I need to listen to this because it has not been played in X months, rather than because I really want to listen to it. I fancy more randomness for a while, maybe just a genre-based assortment. We'll see.
Nice new-ish release from Fieldhead.

Burning down the last of the Gu. I have to add this to my where-have-you-been-all-my-life list.
