Today the 3 year old's Montessori school took them to Macalester to hear an African music group. Tonight he announced "I love African music." So we listened to this during bath time.

I try and introduce him to all kinds of music, but it's amazing what a morning of dancing with his friends can do that simply listening to music with dad cannot.

Yeah, I thought something like that after my professorial dignity was dented by accidentally getting trapped in a mosh pit at a screamo concert that my son got me along to...

I bought this and the two previously played CDs by him in a remainder shop yesterday , all for £5. Amazing value.

    Darren McClure - Unmoored
It's D-day! Meetings all day though so there might have to be a D-tomorrow too.

    D for Dead!
  • Listening to Purple Snow again. So good.

Also, just won tickets to see Darkside on Saturday. Anyone wanna come to Minneapolis to go with me?

    Craig
  • Alright then . . .
    D day it will be:

    Following the D trend!
  • @craig - Wish I could. And very true what you said about kids and music.

Still obsessing after the show Tuesday night. What am I saying? Still obsessing since '99.
  • That "Thumbscrew" WFMU Broadcast mentioned last week, from the Free Music Archive: http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Thumbscrew/Live_at_WFMU_on_the_Long_Rally_June_8th_2012/. Good stuff.

    Darkside - Psychic

Considering I am now seeing them on Saturday, AND they are a 'D' band, I figured I should put them on.

GP - One day my son will think it's cool that I have a chipped tooth from a Danzig mosh pit, but I was not a professor at the time. Would love to have seen that!

thom - Surely it's worth a plane ticket. :) Expedia found roundtrip flights between Philly and MSP for only $782 arriving on Friday and leaving on Sunday!

    Craig
  • Craig - I couldn't come (time for visas etc), but it is almost cheaper to fly from Heathrow to MSP at £514 ($830). It is even direct out with one change (JFK) on the return! I hadn't realised that the exchange is moving in our favour too.
  • I could fly from Rochester NY to MSP for only $600 - funny thing is the transfer is in Philly!
  • greg - Surely there is a rush visa for concert attendance.

amc - That's pretty hilarious and yet another example of the idiocy of flight costs. When do I need to pick you up?

    Isn't that state.bandcamp.gov?

Strange cover, compelling EP: metallicized country-blues. NYOP.
  • BT - That link didn't work. :(

Craig, $600 is still too much; so you'll have to pick me up at home; better leave soon if we're going to get there on time.

    M.I.A. - Matangi

amc - Ugh. Offering to pick someone up at the airport is never a good idea. Upstate NY here I come! GP, I hope the guest room is ready, I'll be stopping on the way.

(Should I tell him now that I don't really want to go; or wait till he gets here? But you can stop over on your way to pick up thom.)
