@Craig.... I think when I was a teenager by musical trifecta was comprised of Black Sabbath, The Who and Led Zeppelin. The first two I really developed an affinity for and the latter is probably due to simple forced-exposure from peers and local radio (WDIZ). My intro to Sabbath was via the two 'hits' from Paranoid. Although like Greg I too have pretty much moved on I still love a majority of the songs on their first 6 albums and still enjoy playing any of those particular albums every now and again. I just pulled up those first 6 on my local media player and played sections from each of them. Overall I think I'm most partial to the first side of "Vol 4" (at least at this particular moment in time).
Jean-Luc Fafchamps, Ictus Ensemble - Sufi Word: KDGhZ2SA
- "The never-ending connotative relationships that Sufi mysticism establishes between letters, the human breath, vitality and affects, acted as a source of inspiration for the major cycle taking shape, the first Sufi Word of which you see here. The CD consists of 4 pieces for instrumental ensemble, an orchestral prologue and a final movement for ensemble and orchestra.
JL Fafchamps : "Since 2000, I have been spending much time writing Sufi Letters, despite the fact that I am not a Sufi, or even Muslim, and I do not speak Arabic... Actually, these letters are more than letters addressed to careful readers; they are also and mostly exercises in calligraphy, alphabetic symbols. They are based on a Sufi chart connecting a vast system of symbolic interrelations to the twenty-eight letters in the Arabic alphabet a sort of methodical summary of metaphorical and mystical thinking, as it has been drawn once by Sheikh Abul-Muwwayid of Gujarat [India] for incantation."

Road Trips 3.3 - 5/15/70, Fillmore East. This is my favorite period of the Dead, with an acoustic set and Pigpen at the top of his game. The sold-out Road Trips series are now available through the iTunes store (no Amazon, sadly). I missed several, and now they are selling for way too much money on eBay.
Had a friend in school whose house I used to hang out at and who had a better record player than mine, and he mainly played Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Motorhead (and lesser lights like Rainbow and Saracen). So I heard most of that catalog up to the mid 80s without ever choosing to or buying any of it. Have not felt much need to revisit. Can only really remember some AC/DC songs.

Amazon UK have three early Bob Dylan albums at £1.99 each. That is less than I could download from emusic if they were available, even taking bonus into account. So I could not resist!
OBENGE RECORDINGS is a collection of field recordings by Roger Peet, recorded in the Congo in a now vanished village called OBENGE. It has since been burned to the ground by military. The village was very small, and unfortunately neighbor to a ruthless ivory warlord who terrorized them and put them in harms way. EWE OF NOW was fortunate enough to capture these songs on cassette for your listening enjoyment. They are full of life, from a place where life is more real than we are accustomed to. All proceeds from the sales of this cassette go to Rogers relief work in the in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and hopefully this isnt the last volume.
