- "Danish jazzy-prog rock band featuring ex members of Burnin Red Ivanhoe and Hurdy Gurdy, and C.Dans.
Secret Oyster was really a continuation of Burnin Red Ivanhoe, who split (for the first time) in 1972 following several disputes over the future direction of the band between Karsten Vogel and the other members.
With Secret Oysters excellent musicians (including Bøhling from Hurdy Gurdy and Knudsen from Coronarias Dans), Vogel had a perfect vehicle to explore new directions in instrumental fusion, partly inspired by Weather Report, and Bøhling burning it up on lead guitar.
Secret Oysters first album became an artistic and commercial success in Denmark. It was successful throughout Scandanavia with some recognition in Germany, Great Britain and the USA. In spite of this,
Vinding and Andersen left the group. The appearance of Stæhr caused Burnin Red Ivanhoe to rise again,
now with the same line-up as Secret Oyster (but with a different musical style).
Several of their original albums have been re-released on CD in recent years on The Lasers Edge label."
- Philip Charles Lithman (June 17, 1949 - July 1, 1987), who performed under the stage name Snakefinger, was an English musician, singer and songwriter. A multi-instrumentalist, he was best known for his guitar work and his collaborations with The Residents.
Lithman was born in London, England, and came from the british blues scene. He moved to San Francisco in 1971 and became associated with the avant-garde group The Residents. It is said he was given the name Snakefinger by The Residents themselves when they saw his proficiency with the guitar during their first live performance together. Another explanation for the name comes from a story concerning a party in San Francisco, at The Residents collective, wherein all in attendance watched Lithmans fingers dart snake-like at the neck of his violin. . . .
Congrats!

Lol, working through a head cold, and here's evidence of how functional I am:
Came into my office after meetings all morning and searched for my iPod, which I realized I did not have when I got home last night.
Found it underneath something.
Went to make a cup of tea.
Returned and got my earphones out...and couldn't find where I had just put the iPod.
Took the earphones out and spent 5 minutes searching for the iPod. Found it again.
Thought: now where did I put the earphones?
Searched for earphones for a few minutes: found them.
Started listening and came here to post.
Maybe I'll start work now.
Thanks GP! Now I just have to find someone able to take a couple hours off work in the middle of the day on one day's notice to go with me. It is proving difficult.
