Reposting because I need to say: this is a really well produced album. The percussion, both instruments and body, are perfectly recorded, and it all sounded great on the drive home this afternoon.
@BT, had a listen to some of that this afternoon. What it is is not entirely my thing, but it sounds very good at being what it is.
NP:
Shallow by Porya Hatami.
Lowlife - this is 99p for 25 tracks at Amazon UK. You can't go wrong at 4p per track. Actually well worth the price!! I'm sure they must have priced it wrongly...
Vinyl rip. I finally got a new record player belt, and figured out an easier way to record (use the headphone jack instead of the aux out). It still had a lot of hiss which I think might be my soundcard's fault. But it sounds good to me, especially for an unreleased album. I got this when I bought a copy of Autobahn at my local record store. I got home and this was the record in the jacket. I was a little disappointed, even though Autobahn's much more readily available, but this is growing on me.
100 tracks, 9:25:51, $3.99. I can't figure out where exactly all the songs come from; unlike other sets like this they don't seem to be just a series of albums in order; it seems all over the map, but if anybody does crack the code let me know. Anyway, it's all good to me.
We got 16.2 inches of snow in the last 24 hours. Supposed to be in the 40's tomorrow.
That is horrendous, amc. My 5 year old granddaughter would very happily have a couple of inches from you, as she has missed snow this winter, regularly asking when is it going to snow? You made me think of this to play:
@Doofy, I read that last sentence before looking closely at the post, and for a brief moment hope flared that maybe you were Plong42 (in which case "coming to town" would have meant "coming to my town") :-). I might even be able to make it to Chicago; main obstacle at the moment is that work is pretty challenging and exhausting and the thought of going to Chicago and back for an evening concert, especially during the semester, tires me out just thinking about it. I think I'm getting old.
I am not a big Mehldau expert yet, but from what I have listened to, going sounds like an excellent plan. Vol 2 is my first from the Art of the Trio series. One big compliment for it: I remember "Moon River" from my dad over-playing a sentimental (country? Jim Reeves??) rendition of it during my teens, which is to say, not with fondness; the Mehldau version really brought it alive for me.
Certainly not my usual listening, but it is free from Amazon UK, so worth a listen. This reminds me of the music my mother listened to in my teens, which I did not like at all. There must be something about Brits who were teens in say mid 60s through to late 70s who do like or appreciate country music!

Totally back-up BT on this, and it is NYOP at the moment

Solid recordings of early music. Free.
Brad Mehldau Trio - Art of the Trio Volume 2
From the "Capitol Vaults" set, which is well worth having. Thought I got it at eMu, but not finding it now.
GP, Brad Mehldau is coming to town soon, would like to go!
