Streaming via Bandcamp. They followed me on Twitter last night, so I figured I'd give them a listen. It's hard to describe, maybe electro psych? It's actually pretty darn good.
Recorded at Nola Penthouse Studios in New York City on March 17, 1961 (tracks 1, 3 & 7) and April 4, 1961 (tracks 2 & 4-6).
Booker Little - trumpet
Julian Priester - trombone
Eric Dolphy - alto saxophone, bass clarinet, flute
Don Friedman - piano
Art Davis - bass
Max Roach - drums, timpani, vibraphone
There's a "Metal March" sale on at Amazon; this was $3.49 (and so far it's totally awesome). Also noticed the most recent Sunn O))) and the latest version of Sleep's Dopesmoker.
Oh, this is really good. More metal (vocalless so far, although Chelsea Wolfe appears on the last track, so I'm assuming there will be vocals at least there), amc you definitely need to check this out via stream or something.
Well I started streaming Russian Circles, then I streamed one song from Sunn, then I was going back to Russian Circles, but Sunn was still on... So I gotta say that they sound pretty great overlapping each other.
Good morning, all. Haven't been entirely living under a rock, just a little. Currently listening to a strange combination of two things I like - Bowie and surf music. Kind of digging it.
Two catch up items - The Allman Brothers 1992 at the Beacon - I like because it's a moment in time thing of the Brothers with Dickey Betts, Warren Hayes and Allen Woody. Since I never really got any post-Duane Brothers it fills in a few holes, and it's an interesting stop between the original line-up and the live Warren Hayes/Derek Trucks album from the Beacon which I really liked.
Then this - in all honestly I have to disclaim being in love with this woman's voice. On first listen I didn't think it was the quality of the Cardigans albums, I still don't - they were really well played and mixed I thought - but by second listen I was becoming more captivated. If you like listening to Nina sing check it out.
