Think Gismonti, but not encumbered by the ECM aesthetic. Brilliant.

    - "Cranial Pavement features compositions by a new generation of European composers who are making waves in the UK as well as on the Continent for their visceral new music. Beginning with a brilliant, new realization of Nancarrow's "Study for Player Piano #2b," Cranial Pavement follows Nancarrow's legacy of pop-influenced rhythmic innovation to Englishmen John Godfrey and Richard Craig as well as acclaimed Greek composer Yannis Kyriakides. . . . ."

Arrington de Dionyso with Graeme W. Smith
Songs of Psychic Fire Vol. 5= The Book of Angels

    - "Arrington de Dionyso conjures Utopic Spaces with multiphonic vocal work & minimalist instrumentation. It's shamanic seance meets rock and roll ecstasy; “TRANCE PUNK” combining traditional ritual trance, electrified experimental approaches, dancehall rhythms, gamelan scales and mystically inspired Indonesian incantations. Shocking and hallucinatory, MALAIKAT DAN SINGA always aims to channel Spirit.

    - "Old Time Relijun's front-man channels true folk sounds thru bass clarinet, snare drum, shruti box, and multiphonic voice. Arrington de Dionyso's grand textural experiments are inspired by Indian classical music, Tuvan throat-singing, and free jazz. In 2014 he'll be debuting an ambitious 8 disc box set of his recent recorded collaborations with a wide variety of traditional and avant-garde musicians in Indonesia."

A few weeks ago I bought a bunch of Sinatra CDs in a remainders store. I've been playing some in my car over the last couple of days. I've been impressed by the recordings he did with Count Basie, Nelson Riddle and this with Billy May. Until the last couple of years all I knew of his recordings were those that he did late in his career - Strangers in the Night, My Way and Something Stupid. These earlier recordings are in a different class.
